Another bearded woman here :cheeky:
Anyway, I´ve never thought of the gender of the taffers here before - guess that might make thief lovers a special kind of gender, not males, not females but simply taffers :D
Careful, Tumblr might hear you and add another.

I try to be as gender neutral as possible on forums because it's really about the games, not me :p. It's actually nice that forums still allow this possibility where other forms of gamer communication (headsets, etc.) do not.
My sister did play and enjoy Thief 2 back in the day. I've been trying to get her to check out fan missions but she's moved on to more modern games (Dragon Age, Dark Souls 3).
I recall back in the day (a decade ago) the community had a surprisingly even gender distribution - at least that is what it seemed.

I strongly suspect that there are a lot more women around in gaming circles than you'd think, but most of them try to avoid revealing the fact because, frankly, a lot of gamers are not nice people.
I recall playing a game of League of Legends recently where a player (who had been doing rather badly) admitted they were female - cue immediate reaction of people saying she must be playing so badly because she's a girl... :nono:
On an unrelated note, the grammar in this thread's title is painful.

Yeah, I would suspect there's probably a much higher proportion of female players in LoL and WoW than most other games.
I'm not really sure why that is.

After looking at them for a while, I sometimes edit titles when no-one's looking.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the official figure is something like 10%, but I don't really believe it. Zero in professional e-sports teams, though, at least that I've heard of.
If that's true and it actually is higher than most other games, then that's really depressing.

This is why I should never be a moderator.

I can believe it for WoW. I've heard lots of women say they play it, even people who don't play video games otherwise. Back in the day, quite a lot of women played MUDs as well.
