I'm unable to use the ddfix patch with my inspiron 1525 (which uses a intel 965 express chipset), and yet I have stars in the sky... but nix on the fog. But then again: Vista, so you know...
FOG is broken in vista (regardless of the gfx chipset) and no one has been able to fix it.

Do we have any idea WHY it is broken on Vista? DX10?

I'm sure, the drivers are the reason, because with XP drivers the fog works. On the other side this causes some other problems...

There is this big gap we haven't been checking... WHY !?!
How can we explain the differences between vista and xp drivers when it's obvious no one has at least tried tapping the glass of this problem?

as far as I know, no one on ttlg is a graphics driver engineer/developer. And because the Xp/Vista gfx issue effects other games, its much bigger than thief. Im sure someone who knows a thing or two will be along...

Eh, maybe someone should chat about this on the Reactos forums.
Reactos being a reverse engineer project to create an open source windows xp/2000 from reverse engineering.
