I know there was an issue with some people on this board about becoming an Arch-Mage. Offing Trebonius is a nice idea, but following Skink-in-trees-shade's quests, and making sure my destruction was at least 90 (personal choice), the last quest he gave me was to deliver a note to Trebonius from the Emperor's BattleMage saying that he was to step down as Arch-Mage of Vvardenfel because I was the new Arch-Mage. It is kind of a shame, really, that I didn't have to duel Trebonius for the title, so I taunted him until he attacked...("watching over (me)", eh? watch this, baldie!)

Who's "Slink-in-Tree-Shade"? What guild/house quest is he involved with? His name doesn't ring a bell at all.

I went to Trebonius and had an option to ask "Arch-Mage"...I clicked on it and he got mad and told me to meet him in the arena...I never even finished Skinks quests....

Me too. I never finished Skink's tasks. Somehow, with trigger errors, I think I did things in exactly the precise order so that I dropped the potion off that he wanted, but he forgot that I did it. Or something.
I also never finished the tasks of the Temple leader at the Ghostgate. That didn't stop me from rising to the rank of Patriarch, and it was really funny after "finishing the game" that when I went to talk to her, the only thing on her mind was her little Hair-Shirt quest.
