Is there anywhere to hang out as an evil guy? I'm only level 4 but already KOS. Are there any evil cities with bandits, shadowknights and the like - the sort of people who won't start every sentence with 'I know you, you're the notorious outlaw Venroth Ui'daal...etc' I'm not too worried about the guards as I can already kill them one on one (due to my fiend katana and full set of armour (68) I looted of a guard in Vivec), but its just getting irritating.
Also I thing I got bugged - after I got the puzzle box for the caius cosades first quest he sends you to the mage guild to speak with the orc mage about the nerevarine, the problem is I can't as it isn't in the list of topics to ask her about. My disposition is 66/100 with her, so it can't be that.

You're really supposed to be a hero... the closest they wrote to allow you to be evil is helping the slavers.

I thought as much) No matter how much they profess to it being an 'open ended do what you want' game, these things are aways weighted HEAVILY in favor of being a hero, and general all-round nice guy.
So is there any way I can fix my reputation (zero at the moment) or pay of the bounty on me( 9000) without being attacked? I really don't fancy starting over again.

As a level 4 person yout reputation shouldnt be high if you played normally. Im on 46 or so with a rep of 20. And you can pay the bounty simply by surrendering to a guard/fort leader. Or join the Thieves guild and get them to take care of the matter.
The plotline should make it rather easy to spot that the player is supposed to be a hero type ;). Personally I would've liked the BG2 approach and the player would have the chance to play as a utter bastard.
TIP: Hide your stuff into some barrell/crate pile before going to talk about paying as then you wont loose all that neat stuff.

I can't turn myself in, I just get the 'Goodbye, you're dead' message straight away. Anyway, I just started a new game and used the console cheats to get me back to where I was.
Even in BG it was still a total pain in the ass playing as an evil swine, since you had to beat off the guards every 5 minutes. I just think it would be nice to have an evil section of Vvardenfell, with necro/SK/Bandit guilds etc. where doing gratuitously violent and evil deeds was the route to success and advancement. Maybe it's the non-PC element of rewarding players for being evil and violent that puts RPG makers off?

Btw, you could've just used a console command to wipe your bounty... :p
And yeah, likely it's as you say; while many mature players appreciate such, the majority of games are purchased by parents for their kids. Guess which games they won't buy? ;)

If your bounty is really high, you don't have the option to pay gold or go to jail, that's why stealing very valuable items can get you killed. thieve's guild will usually pay off bounties for 1/2 the cost, or in certain thieves guild quests you can get the bounty paid off for free. I know the pain of wiping out an entire village, only to learn that i have to be good. i feel for you, brother :(

It is realy fun to be a REAL mean guy. I played like that too, killing all the population in the cities like Vivec, Balmora, Ald'Ruhn and Sadrith Mora. But they didn't like that and with a bounty of 20K and not enought money and no shopkeepers left to sell stuff too........

I've discovered a great bug to let you be as evil as you like and get away with it. If you build up a massive bounty like 50,000, all you have to do is talk to the bartender in the southwall corner club in Balmora. Now heres the good part - you don't need the correct amount of money in your inventory. I had a bounty of 45,000 on me, with only about 1000 gold in my pocket and he still accepted it and my bounty went to zero)
You have to be a member of the thieves guild of course, and you can't have stolen from or killed any of them.
I've repeated this several times and it works, it's probably been fixed if you have the patched version tho - someone try it on that version to see.

Bounty will be given to someone if (s)he kills you.
And this i show I understood the fine paying system: When going to Thieves to get help, they only take money from you, depending on the amount you have naturally. Guards on the other hand take money and all gear you've stolen.
