If there are, we'll all be dead.

http://i.imgur.com/ISUN74q.pngThe Jar so far. I Liked LarryG's corked look but did solid glass instead. The glass cork needs to be less opaque so it looks more solid.
I am going to add the bugs tomorrow. I am going to see about a light square grid PNG that I can rotate and have it make the different bugs light, and other's not instantly without remodeling, so I may be able to quickly make enough objects to tweq. It will be my first time doing a tweg animation, will post soon.
700-some faces
Edit: This will be unused, does anyone want it?

Hey, it's looking good, and I know beggars can't be choosers, but do you think you could make it a cork top instead? Also maybe have the cork a bit smaller and have the glass a bit more transparent?

http://factorydirectcraft.com/pimages/20140924104656-971285/small_corked_clear_glass_jar_2.jpgActually, as I was writing this, it just occurred to me... if the jar were corked off, it would kill the bugs!
Maybe we could have a flat cork with holes poked in it?
The location of this jar will be a festering swamp, so a glass top might be a bit too clean and fragile. If I could request one more thing, could we have it with some dirty splotches on it? Like it has been on the ground a couple times?
I should have been more clear about this before- sorry about that.
If you like, just keep it clean and I can try and dirty up the texture myself.

Having the holes be a texture is totally fine. Not sure of the actual size. Fairly small, big enough for 4-5 to fit in there without it looking too crowded, but that's subjective.

Proof of concept with size and solid color shade test. I still have to install photoshop on this new PC tonight so I can finish tomorrow. Going to make cork rotted and mossy, and glass "swampified" as well.
I delete my post above to show this as new post and clean out spam. I want to know your thoughts on how you are doing the particle effects to look like the 5 bugs in the jar? This will inform the look of my animated "resting" bugs in your inventory. I will pass the finished product soon with centered Vhot.

Although we could do something like realistic-looking bugs or moths, I think what we've decided on for the bug particles for the placed jar object is just little glowing orbs, so like caricatured fireflies basically. R_T can correct me if I'm wrong.

Looks great so far, gamophyte! Yandros is correct. It's just going to be small glowing particles floating around when the jar is placed. How you do the resting bugs is up to you, so long as the jar doesn't look empty in your inventory when it's full of bugs, I don't mind that the placed and inventory jars look different.
Looking forward to seeing what it'll look like with dirty textures!
