I'd very much appreciate a forest object, that is a column of trees, ideally between 40 and 100 dromed units long and 5 to 10 units wide. The height doesn't matter as much (from 15 to 40 units high?), as long as the whole stays aesthetically pleasing. I'm also not very specific regarding the type of trees (about anything except tropical trees), but it would be nice to have a kind of random effect. I'd like to use this for the backdrop of a mission, the goal being to create the illusion that a dense forest lies just beyond given houses and walls.

I'm afraid that a forest object is unlikely due to the number of polys it would require. You would be best advised to place a layer of individual trees in front of a wall textured with a forest scene. As long as the player cannot reach the wall, it might serve.

Distance forest may be possible if the trees are just textures on cylindrical planes. For the front rows, you could use the crossing planes to get some sort of a depth. What is important is to have slightly different textures for each row so the scale of trees is smaller with less details and to add some aerial diffusion to the colour of each plane. That should sell the sense of depth.

Yes, I'd only need something fairly basic. At all times there would be at east an 8 unit high wall blocking the player's view. It's really more of a backdrop.

I would post it but for some reason all of my copies of Tree_Pack.zip are bad. :o

No problem Pedro. :) I was able to zip up Slugg's tree collection into a new zip file just in case you need more trees. I would have suggested Daraan's trees but I don't remember if he had dead trees or not.

Daraan's pack has trees without leaves, so yes you can use some of his as dead trees.
