Wow, that Dark Mod robot looks fantastic! I was a big fan of the robots, if for no other reason that they helped create a truely unique world for the game. I thought TDS was a bit too uniformly midevil.
As for the far superior TMA tree beasts, they gave me one of my favorite moments in the game: after creeping around the forest and listening to the noises, i noticed the shape of the trees and walked closer to one. a little freaked (i had the headphones on), i turned around to walk away and heard a noise behind me, only to turn back and see it had moved. before i could react, the damn thing hauled arse at me and i almost loafed in my shorts. classic.
lastly, i don't mean to beat a dead horse, but i've had the honor of posting what i think is the only thread to recieve no reponses at all. :erm: (i asked about whether it was even remotely possible to change garrett's player movement to be more like the first two games) and i asked it in the same spirit as thestemmer on this thread: not to leech off anyone but to learn more about what the editor/fan community can do and see whether, as an avid player of fan missions, i could look forward to someone changing something that bothered more than a few players.
i downloaded the T3 editor, but decided to download and work with DromEd first. i don't think i belong at the vanguard of level design and would rather start where others have tread for years.

Wow, those Dark Mod robots are looking spiffy. When they're finished, that might just give me a reason to buy Doom 3.
This might be stupid question, but would it be possible to take the Dark Mod models and import them or use them as a basis for models in the T3 engine (with the team's permission, of course)? I assme that you'd have to do lots of messing with the skeletal structure and all, but might it be better than starting from scratch?

You too? :) The best thing about them was that they stayed completely inert for ages. I'd knocked out every single enemy in one area (or so I'd thought) and was running back and forward scouring the map for loot. I must have run right in front of it in direct light at least 4 or 5 times before it finally got up; and then WHUMPH!
thestemmer - Thanks for the suggestion. I, for one, appreciate people posting their ideas. :) And yes, it would almost definitely be possible to reuse the Dark Mod model (provided, as you say, that the team agrees).

It might be possible. Oddity, the guy who makes those sweet sweet models, would hate the idea. I mean hate it
BAD.
Only probalems would be the fact that according to the T3 devs, importing new models and AI types into t3 is atrociously hard. As well as the fact that we are using some texture types that I don't think are supported by T3....

Oddity is a true artist, so it would be a shame if he wouldn't let us share his great work. Let's go beat him into submission! :ebil:

Umm ya...I'd like to apologize for my explosion the other day. This week has been AP week for me, and I finally finished taking my tests (thank god!). I really didn't realize how much I was getting on edge with all of this stress (I went as far as changing my diet to compensate for my study habits to get 5s...). I'm in a much better mood now that it's over and done with.
thestemmer on 8/5/2005 at 00:20
Hey, not a problem, apology accepted. I hope the pace has slowed down for you now. I know how those AP tests can be.

But it can't slow down too much ;), I hope I can ride out the rest of the school year in AP mode.

Seriously, he would do everything in his power to stop you. He would rather delete his models completely than allow them to be used in T3. Don't push him. :erg:

I'm thinking any attempt to port Oddity's stuff to T3 would end... badly. He's been quite clear on his feelings about T3 and the editor, and to say he dislikes them would be like saying the Atlantic Ocean is "kind of wet".
