It must seem that I"m all about punishing the player. While this is true, I also think that it would add some extra immersion back to the game. Just doesn't seem right that I"m looking at the flashbomb going off and it doesn't affect me. I've tried a few things and thought of a few more as I went to sleep last night but nothing has worked yet.
post thoughts and ideas here. :)

Nah, Garrett just blinks when the blast goes off. Hardly feels unrealistic or less immersive. Of course, that's just an opinion.

No, he doesn't. If he blinked, the screen would black out for a moment.
Requiring that flash bombs be used with some care was a Good Thing.

After all he has a mechanical eye, so thsi means only his other eye should be blinded :joke:

:D I think the mechanical eye would be overloaded by the extra sensory information. It must still translate to his brain somewhere.
Oh well. I'll keep looking into it, if nobody else is interested.

I don't know...for me, it's just one less skill that I have to flex. Just takes something else away from me as the player. If I can see it blow up on the screen I think I should have to look away to avoid being blinded. As a player, I want to feel vulnerable.
Just don't know how to pull it off yet. :)

Any ex devs still around that might have some insight into what might work in getting flashbombs to blind garrett again? I've tried many different Trigger scripts but I don't know what to apply them to. Flashbomb flash...an emitter...the Flash Bomb itself? It would make sense if I could link it to the flash and use a triggerscript that checks to see if it is in the player view and if it is...black the screen but this hasn't worked for me at all yet.

Well in TDS flashbombs somehow blind guards who aren't even looking at them, so... y'know... just to be fair...

:D Ha. Indeed.
Well, in any event. I would also like people to consider that being able to blind Garrett with a flashbomb is also beneficial for future fan missions. Who knows what insane author will want to equip an AI with a flashbomb. There could be scripted elements where another Thief is in the same house as you and tries to thwart your efforts, much like you would. That's just one minor example but I think there is merrit in it.

While your on it, is it possible to make them look more like ye olde flashbombs? The new ones look like christmas baubles.
