Lets see if I can be a little clearer on what it is I am experiencing...First off I have installed- uninstalled and reinstalled this game (the dual game dvd) three times and have cleaned up-defragged-clean booted more than a few times. The issue on my laptop is when I launch the game and as stated previously I tried all the different settings and checked my dxconfig files (have dx9 thru dx11). The UK version I have already has the 1112fm.exe update/patch included (it shows in the start menu) I have the noname patch saved(when I try to open that is says I do not have Engine.dll and stops ) but am unclear where it should be inserted even if I did I am still unable to launch the game to insert it....which I understand when doing so allows the files to be accessed and updated. In other works to be able to fix the game I have to launch it and I can not launch. The best that I can get the game to run is as I have discribed in my earlier post...I am unable to go to full screen mode and when I try the GL setting it will not start at all......the 3D setting is the only one that starts...the default Renderer shuts the game off (the one that says' not recommended') in the software rendering dialogue box that the game opens with....the one that says ''start game'' ''start in safe mode'' and those other listings that escape me at the moment....
I have spent hrs and hrs on sites foreign and abroad trying to figure this thing out...and the thing that gets me is after all the hassle is it probably won't be worth the effort....I have heard from other gamers that after they applied all the updates and new mods and updated graphic renderers that it still looks old and dated....I have the original Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator lets call it CFS1 and it almost acts the same way...so with that in mind trying to run and older game on a newer system sometimes no matter how much you slow it down the graphic cards just won't let you.....
It is not that the graphics are corrupted it is more like I am unable to adjust the graphics to better fit how it plays on a newer computer...on thing I have noticed is when the file is copied it does not put it in an x86 file where all the 32 bit files are...I have tried putting it there and labeling it as such to no avail...this game looks like a dust collector....
BTW this computer is and HP Pavilion dv7-4177nr dual core phenomII 6GB dddr3 800gb HHD switchable Radeon HD 512mb graphic cards....so it has the umph probably too much for this game

Jesus, it sounds like you are simply trying to patch it in entirely the wrong way.
Install DX. Do not install invisible war, since it's irrelevant at this point and will only confuse things.
Install it to C:\, not anywhere deep within windows, because you will save yourself a ton of hassle. It's an older, simpler game (it won't obnoxiously write saves to "my docs", for instance), and responds better to simple approaches.
Patch it to 1.112fm, even if it already claims to be patched. Note that the patch is an exe, and
does not at any point require you to run the game to patch it. None of the patches should require this. You do not need to 'insert' them anywhere either, since they're exes, and they're mostly just overwriting files you already have installed anyway.
I have no idea what the noname patch is, and a google search brings up nothing, so I'd ignore that.
So. Having done that, try running the game. If you can't get it to run even with basic shitty directX, then this is probably not going to work out whatever you do.
If it runs, woo! Now exit the game. Having run the game at least once, you now have all the requisite ini files and shit that TNM will want.
Install TNM. Again, it's an exe so should simply do everything automatically. Nothing needs to be inserted anywhere, no game needs to be running.
TNM comes with a nicer (OGL) renderer, and should default to it automatically. so run TNM and see how it looks. If it works, then apply this renderer to your DX game too. I'm pretty sure TNM won't do it automatically, so you may need to open deusex.ini (in C:\deusex\system, assuming you're not using kentie's launcher) and TNM.ini (which may be located in C:\deusex\TNM\System): look for this line
[Engine.Engine]
GamerenderDevice=<SOMETHING HERE>
and take whatever TNM.ini has for <SOMETHING HERE> and put it in Deusex.ini.
Then scroll down TNM.ini until you find a section that matches whatever was in <SOMETHING HERE>, so if you had GamerenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice, then scroll until you find
[OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice]
and copy that whole section across too. If there's already a matching section in deusex.ini, paste it over the top. If not, you can just add it to the end of the .ini file.
Et voila, you should now be able to run DX with the openGL renderer. If OpenGL isn't working, you can also try chris dohnal's directX9 renderer too ((
http://www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/))
DirectX10 renderers I'm less sure about, as I haven't tried them.
Also, don't run the game from the .exe, run it from the shortcut. Using the shortcut forces it to go via the correct .ini/user.ini files.
You should never have to do things with config files or binary files. A tiny bit of .ini editing is about as strenuous as it ever should get.

I have tried the install from shortcuts and it does the same thing....stops on launch and generates a windows .exe message....and when I open the files on the game it shows the version as being 1.12fm and I have installed the 1.04 1.04a 1.04+ and 1.04.exe patches to hopefully get it to launch...also upon initial launch the mouse cursor disappears and am unable to navigate in that window...this thing is a booger bear....but I am going to go over your post and see if there is anything I have overlooked or left out.....pheewy....not sure if this thing is worth all the trouble.....and older games are a PITA on Win7x86 laptops...newer games no problem older games....fagetaboutit......

(
http://kentie.net/)
this finally did it.....the 4.0v is the deal.....it opens it all up.....and on the same site there is a DX10 renderer also even though the OpenGL I used worked fine....now on to other stuff....thanks everyone for taking your time....

Glad you got it working. Obviously, the game is going to look old and dated since it's nearly 12 years old, but it's the gameplay that counts.
