Anyone running Deus Ex in win 7?

I bought it off of steam for around 6 dollars and I got it to run natively at 1280 by 800 resolution in Windows 7 no problem. The only issue I have is with flashing lights; don't look good on my LED macbook air screen

I can also confirm Deus Ex works fine on my Windows 7 x64, Core i7, and GTX 260 setup.

I too can confirm that Deus Ex works great with Win 7 64 bit, Core2 4400, and Nvidia 8800 gt (driver version 8.16.11.9107).

This is good to hear, I've had Deus Ex since it first came out all those years ago and due to graphical problems I couldn't play it at the time, and I've not actually tried since even though I've upgraded my PCs several times since then.
Could be time to take it out for a spin I reckon :)

Not sure if this is the proper place to put this thread...

Maybe someone can help me figure this out. I have the original Deus Ex game disc from sometime ago. I am trying, without sucess to install it to my Win 7 Home Premium Computer, but for some unknown reason, it refuses to install.

It does see and read the disc, but it gets to a point where is just stops responding and wont install. For some unknown reason, I can not get by this and do a full install.

Perhaps someone can help me to identify this problem, or at least give me some ideas on how I can get this game to install, it is a full game cd and not a demo. I was able to play it on my older Win XP home system, but I no longer have that system. I also have a XP Pro system and it does the same thing, it just simply wont install, same issues.

been over the disc and it is not scratched nor damaged, it does install to different points, but still no full install.

Sound Blaster Sound card

Cd/DVD Rom

plenty of space, no known issues with my system.

I would try copying the content of the cd to your hdd and running setup.exe as admin.

I got it to work, after downloading a Disc ISO Image and installing it that way, must be something wrong with my original disc... Works fine on Win 7 Home.

I have DX GOTY in the package on dvd that contains Invisbile War also and IW downloads and plays with no real problems but DeusEx itself ( game 1 I 'spose) gets hung up in the execute mode and stalls out... I have gone to several forums and they all have a different take on what the issue is that causes the .exe file to not launch the game. I have heard take admin rights reconfigure the .config binary file, reset .exe executable in binary, copy and rename binary files and all sorts of answers and I see on this site there is something called no name patch or fix (can't think of it at the moment) but when I read what it does it doesn't really address the config/exe issues that I am experiencing. I too have win7x64 Hm Prem with a WEI 5 rated machine and I have installed about every Directx I can think of to no avail...the game did try to get to the menu mode when I first installed it but the graphics were so bad it was almost unrecognizable (and yes I tried all the diff settngs) and the mouse will not work in that window and btw the window is very small and will not maximize either. The game installs but that is as far as it gets when I try to launch it goes into a windows configuration box that does the ole windows will search for an answer and get back to ya mode...and then exits the game out....PCworld had a fix and I did dwnld the patches but am unable to find the DeusEx.exe file in binaries to apply the new data which the author swears will get it to run on w7 and there are links to upgrade the graphics and rewrite the core file to accept it....this sure seems like a lotta work to get an old game to fire up.

I had a hard time understanding you. Sounds like you installed the game and it started OK in a window but the graphics were corrupted. But then you say it doesn't start and you get a windows crash dialog. Did the crashes happen only after you started trying hacked exes and config files?

You didn't mention whether you installed the 1.112 patch or which renderer you tried or whether you enabled the fullscreen option in the configuration menu.

My advice is to uninstall everything, reinstall from DVD, install the 1.112 patch, configure the game to use the DirectX renderer in fullscreen mode, and then launch the game. That seems to work for most people. I did see flickering in the main menu after installing it on one laptop, but that went away after starting the game. Then I installed the enhanced OpenGL renderer and afterwards even the menu worked fine.

It seems that most people run into trouble when trying to use alternative renderers, especially in conjunction with mods. So here's a thought - do a clean re-install of DX and then download and install The Nameless Mod. TNM has a comparatively professional installer that will patch the game and install the OGL renderer. It should leave you with a working version of DX with TNM as a bonus.
