Okay I'm sorry, I went over the edge with my last post and you won't hear for me anymore since I set his profile to ignore but the problem is still here: why is downwinder still allowed to spam the forums with his threads?
That's your opinion. You're perfectly entitled to your opinion, and to express your opinion, but not using the kind of language that was used, the name-calling. Just avoid that, make your point politely (everyone), and there'll be no problem.

Okay wise guy, but what about the neighbor who run in the street screaming his lungs for more barking dogs? What about the newspaper with the same headlines put in your mailbox every weeks? I can do cheesy metaphors too and this won't go anywhere too.
Sadly the "if I ignore it, maybe it will go away" wisdom doesn't always work, case in point : it's been years we had the eternal dewdrop begging that annoyed everyone, nobody outgrown the passive-aggressive smug reply (that of course downwinder didn't understand..) until someone spoke his mind more aggressively. Maybe this wasn't a problem for you to begin with but for others it certainly was.

If you see a downwinder thread don't read it or post in it. Simple.
He isn't approaching you privately for anything, which clears up your screaming neighbour and mail box analogies nicely.
It's best to forget it and move on, for sanity's sake if nothing else.
I'm sure you have much more important things to be getting on with, as do I.

to the people who see how this really went down thank you,sad so many other use there twisted thinking to assume they know what others are doing
and all i wanted was to yap about the thief 4 idea that never was :(
downwinder on 29/10/2017 at 20:54
"brethern "and betrayer" is a line from thief 3 game nothing more
dont take what i say out of context please
but to be honest squad reminds me of keeper orland as he is accusing me of things ,just as orland accused garrett of killing keeper cataca and we all know how that turned out for keeper orland in the end, sitting in a room with a pile of blank books and no one to push around anymore

The line is actually uttered in Thief 2 as well, when Garrett is listening to the prophecy of the Metal Age.

yes i did notice this more recently and wondered if it was a clue about gamal being around in thief 2
i just forgot it was in thief 2 also
but my point stands its a line from thief game, nothing more, ohh yeah and i posted it on a thief board to a guy named brethren=i think it more then makes sense, wasent a insult either, just a way for me to add a thief line in to a post that made sense to a real fan :)
also when i said "nothing more" i ment i did not mean it in a bad way
downwinder on 29/10/2017 at 21:37
i think little girl in thief 3 was not same in thief 2,but if i am wrong that means gamal was in thief 2 entire time
as i am sure that is cataca in thief 2
makes me wonder how deep the thief story truly is ,if there is a layer most of us did not see, when you watch all 3 thief games cut scenes in a row gold/2/3,skipping 1 as it the same as gold with 3 less cutscenes
if i had to guess gamal was in thief 2 but hidden from all,but that one hammer in thief 3 ,he probaly was in thief 2 but we never knew it at the time, also there is a map somewhere that does show shalebride on map and you can head toward it but its blocked off i think the mission where you have to go back to your house to get your gear, check map on that mission and i think in top right area is shalebridge
if i was more of a reader i would replay thief gold/2 for just readable to see if anything was sliped in about thief 3

I think it was strongly implied that Gamall was the same character in both games.
However, I doubt LGS was planning at the time to make the translator girl become the villain of TDS. The same can be said about any of the other references found in the earlier games. In game design, when you come up with story elements, you add them because they flesh out the current game, not because you want to save them for a sequel. After all, if that sequel never gets made for whatever reason, then your planned story elements will have been wasted and may even be interpreted by players as a red herring.
More than likely, characters such as Gamall, Caduca, Orland, Gervaisius, etc., were created to simply be minor characters in their original game, but LGS or Ion Storm decided to expand their role later on, either to help tie the new game to the previous one or as a fun reward for fans who were paying attention.
Heck, maybe some of them were intended to have bigger roles in earlier games, but their roles had to be cut or reduced for some reason, so the designers decided to reuse those already-created characters or story elements when making the next game.
