5h in, I've killed the north and east bosses. Got 3 guns, 5 upgrades, 2 outfits. Also I'm garbage at the dash challenges.

I love the atmosphere created by the pixel art and music. I wonder how well this works for those who didn't grow up in the 8-bit or 16-bit era, since for me it's very much about the somewhat abstract mysterious quality you can get with good lo-fi art. (I only now realise that some of the colour scheme the game uses reminds me of CGA graphics, though I only got into PC gaming in the EGA/VGA era.)

I bought the game based on this thread's recommendations, and it is pretty cool, even though I am finding even many of the regular encounters extraordinarily hard. :D Looks like I am really not good at twitch.
Very nice style and ambience, though. There are a lot of games trying a retro-pixel style, but this one's actually doing it well.

Oh man, I'm really stuck on the West boss. North and East were a breeze by comparison.

I've been playing this with the Steam Controller lately, in an effort to get more accustomed with the thing. The controls are simple enough and only need one thumbstick so it's been going mostly fine, until the West bossfight, which I replayed 20 times without getting his health down below 40%. Then I switched to the Dualshock4 and beat him on my first try. Just sayin', Renz, just sayin'. :sly:

Just finished this. Really damn solid game. Couldn't make much sense of the narrative though.
Also did anyone manage to find a Rosetta Stone of something for those stone tablets with the symbols? Never did figure out what those were about.

I'm pretty happy that out of the projects I jumped onto the Kickstarter for, the most uncertain one of them in terms of lineage was ultimately the most rewarding. Wasteland 2 and Broken Age were all right, but nowhere as inspired as HLD is. Makes me wonder if I should have backed Rain World.

The only thing I found was a room with copies of the tablets that highlighted the ones you've found and a button that obviously does something when you've found all of them. It was in the northern area somewhere, and it has a teleporter connected back to the central town.

I just beat the fourth boss and thought that this would trigger the ending... but it seems I need to have four keys in all four areas. I only have three in the western and southern areas. Guess this'll have to wait until I'm back from my holiday.

Hey, guys? There's been an update pushed out today on HLD's beta branch.
It updates the game to run at 60 FPS.
You are not ready.
