I was a big T1/T2 fanboy. I bought T3, but was severly disappointed. I want to give T3 another shot within the next few weeks. Now that the editor has been released, I bet lots of people are working on making new missions. But did anyone try to improve the missions that came with the game ? I've installed the texture packs that were released before the editor. That was already a step in the right direction. But now with the editor I am sure the game can be improved lots. E.g. a big step would be if someone would take all loading zones in a mission, and merge them into a single map.
Anyone done that yet ? Anyone working on it ?
TIA.

The general consensus was that it would be a tremendous amount of work and a massive download for, what is essentially, little payback.

Or even no payback, if the whole thing runs so slow it's unplayable.

Yeah, I agree. The loading zones don't bother me nearly enough for me to go through all the trouble of merging the levels. That would be quite hard to do, and the effort would be better spent making FMs and mods IMO.
Still, if anyone is utterly insane and wants to have a go, they're welcome to try. It'd probably be a good learning experience. Hard knocks and all that. :)

Surely that wouldn't be the case for the regular missions, which are only divided into two areas?
I don't imagine that merging all the city areas would necessarily make for a happy frame-rate, OTOH...

I'm pretty sure that attempting to merge the city sections would result in a whole lot of broken scripting, so I don't think that'll ever happen. I recall someone saying that not all the missions sections could be fit back together properly, so some changes would be necessary.
I'd rather just play new missions, personally. Then again, I finished T3 already and enjoyed it quite a lot, so I suppose we're looking at this from different positions.

I dont mind the loadzones so long as when all put together the actual maps/ missions are about as large as some of the T2 missions, and most buildings can be entered and have stuff in them
This can be done, cant it, I mean a mission could be made with as many (or few) load zones?

Since we're not constrained by the amount of memory in an Xbox, we can make new missions considerably larger than those in T3. T1/T2-sized missions aren't necessarily out of the question. We don't quite know what the size limits are.
