My system (no overclock):
ati radeon 4870 512MB
Q9550
2x 2GB DDR2
asus p5q deluxe
windows xp 32-bit SP3
I played Thief1 last year and ddfix worked and everything was fine and dandy.
Now I got newer ati drivers, and am having crashes at either:
* start of game
* after loading into game
* sometimes when checking map
* sometimes when checking objective
* sometimes after dying
and sometimes the mission briefing during loading text has garbage on it.
I tried Catalyst 9.8 and 9.10, same issue.
I went back to the driver I remember using last year (Catalysy 8.6) and no issues whatsoever. :weird:
Can anyone else confirm?
UPDATE:
By reverting to Catalyst 9.4, I fixed the issue. No more crashes!
AAAANNNDDDDDDDD...
NO MORE SLOW DOWNS!!!!! :eek:

Odd, I've got a Radeon HD4550 with Catalyst 9.10 and it works beautifully. Have you tried uninstalling Catalyst and running nasty file remover to clean the drivers out, then reinstalling?
Alternatively, try toggling the setting for Catalyst AI, sometimes that seems to make a difference.

Mudi, are you also using Win XP or Vista/7 ? :)

Windows 7 x64...
Intel Core Quad Q9300, 8GB RAM, ATI HD4550.
Thief 1/2/3 all work pretty much perfectly.

Yeah, those are completely different drivers from the XP 32-bit counterparts.

KoHaN69, try ddfix version 1.1.1.

Perfectly? Do you still have the fog that only lasts until leaving game mode issue, or did you find a fix?

Well, perfectly minus that. Sooo close...

That's not the answers, since that ddfix version uses dx9, leading to missing textures/flickering objects/inventory.
I am currently playing Thief Gold with Catalyst 8.6 perfectly (with the latest dx7 ddfix)
