I haven't had any crashes/lock-ups (nVidia GeForce 5600). I just can't get T3 to load my test level. THAT'S when I get the lock-up and have to cold boot.

Far from ideal, I know; but T3ed is happy to import ready subtracted geometry from other versions of UnrealEd:
If you need to get jiggy with the subtracted brushes, prepare them in another UnrealEd and export in the .t3d file format (pick
export... from the File menu).
Start up T3ed and pick
Import... from the file menu. Hunt down your .t3d file - make sure you elect to import into the existing map and click
Mm'OkYou'll want to perform a
build for everything to fit together properly.
Epic do a (
http://www.unrealtechnology.com/html/runtime/overview.shtml#) freebie version of the editor if you feel the need to give it a whirl.
phew.

I had the similar problem, but after a fresh installation of TDS and following Komag's installation instructions step-by-step it got solved.
I'm now using Cat.5.2, multisampling is set to 1, Catalyst A.I is off, AA is on "let application decide" and it still crashes. I guess I have to try out all of the earlier catalyst versions and see if that works.

I'm getting exactly the same crashes on my Radeon 9800 XT... I've tried the last 5 releases of drivers and they all crash... so does the game. I tried the last two Omega's as well and they both had the same problem.
That said, every crash has occured whilst adding or subtracting something that is crossing through something else (or running along the exact same line as it)...
If I make a big empty room and then add my shape in the centre of it and then move that added brush into the place I originally wanted it to be in then I avoid crashes it seems...
Also, if I add the brush somewhere out in the bsp where nothing has been subtracted yet that also crashes the editor.

Thanks for the tip, Jay. It works. :thumb:
That's quite an ingeniuos solution. Now i'll just have to build the basic structure of the level in different editor and I can finally start learning the use of the editor. Maybe someone eventually finds a fix to this adding/subtracting malfunction.

This will work ONLY if you don't use UnrealEd textures. To get it into T3Ed, you'll have to texture everything with the default texture.

Yep, just do the geometry. Having other textures on the brush work doesn't break anything; but they will get replaced by the default 'pebbles' texture once in t3ed.

i dont have another editor. nothing crosses anything, yet it crashes, and my computer goes to default crap color and low res, and i cant save the level because apparently thats too much for defualt settings to handle.
