Oh reverb......little chance of me toneing that down, im a bit of a space cadet:cool: , ill give it a try though thanks for the advice.
I agree about more takes, i used to spend years on a single song ,mixing it down, overdubbing 3 guitar parts, string parts, harmonies ect... these tracks are sort of new, rough and true of my attension span these days, I wouldnt say im exactly dieing for my art as i was, im sort of proving something to my self.
The latency on my soundcard is a little out(its just some generic shit one) im on a pIII with 196mb ram and im using emagic logic audio platinum, no mixing desk.. everything is going through a shitty clip on mic
Im a bastard for reverb :ebil: i am employing ALOT of artistic licence, the songs need to sound lost, innocnet and vunerable, possibly "bedroom", i will give it a go with those plugins
THANKS FOR THE LINKS
Try check out the song "for two " on this site (
www.mp3.com.au/dylanbarry). I love the way it turned it, the intro is impossibly heavy

Ja, (

I've done another R-Type remix (the Big Ship Level) but I'm not really cool with it, so I didn't submit.

Before the year is out I shall have recorded a demo-EP with my band. At the moment all I have is crappy one-or-two-man demos usually without any kind of drums or at the most a drum machine effect, and most often me singing instead of the actual singer because I write the songs. Bedrooms, eh?
But seriously, watch this space.
If anything the problem will be deciding which songs to record, because the band has already learnt most of my 2006 material but I've recently written a whole slew of new stuff and it's going to be hard to judge what should make it in. Still, live performances is where it's at at the moment.

Ah, of course, I actually have that R-Type remix of yours. :) DLing the other now.
Fingernail, looking forward to hearing some Debt Offensive stuff.

I worded myself wrong. What I should have said is to use a send instead of applying reverb to the actual track, hence keeping the presence and attack while still having the ethereal feel he's clearly going for without making it as thin as it is now.

Necromancy Warning be damned, I didn't want to make a new thread just for this but I remembered Matthew expressing an interest so it seemed the most appropriate place to SHAMELESSLY SELF-PROMOTE.
So y'know, one room, one SM-58, one Rode NT1, mostly second or third takes during a normal rehearsal (no click tracks (don't try this at home), overdubs, edits or anything fancy like that), but godsdammit it gives you SOME IDEA: (

another useful tip is to always pay attention to the order your effects are applied. Never place a compressor after a reverb, usually dojn't add an eq after a compressor, don't add distortions after reverbs, etc... just think about what the outcome will be before applying multiple effects in no certain order.

Am I the only one too retarded to figure out how to get to the music on that page?
