I have seen the rumors, but it doesn't go farther than that as far as I have seen.

im not really new. i am to posting, you can say. made my first posts a few months ago, but that was a one time thing. then the other day i went totally apeshit with posts. part of it was boredom.

To make a long story short, when LGS or Looking Glass Studios closed down, there were so many debts to so many people that one could hardly have a track on who you would have to pay in order to clear the debt.
Then there is a legal limbo because of this debt mess, so is very unlikely that we will see another System Shock game ever, unless someone or something is doing miracles around here and we weren't informed about it.
:nono:

hm thats interesting. never heard that debt thing. i read someplace that basically when LGS split up, pieces of the SS franchise went in so many different directions. according to whereever i read this, some companies that own bits and pieces of ss arent even aware that they do, and itd be too much of a nightmare to reacquire the franchise as a whole to do another one.
but then again, they said wed never see the original black sabbath tour again either...

Yeah, but the System Shock franchise doesn't have satan on it's side.

As I recall, the rumors have their source from a PC Gamer reporter overhearing two EA people talking in an elevator ... which isn't necessarily as good as information as one might think. I think it's good enough evidence to say that some EA people have been seriously thinking about the possibility in the wake of some of the hype around Bioshock, but it's not conclusive of anything.
Part of the story, too, let's not forget, is EA's rejection of Levine's proposal for SS3 and his notoriously biting come-back. If EA did do it, they'd have to do some work to show that they really care about the project even over the objections of the SS2 lead ... that or charge ahead without really caring either way (I mean, it is EA). SS3 may not have Satan on its side, but EA is another story. [/unavoidable punchline with that set-up]

That pretty much confirms SS3 was being discussed, the question is if we will one day see an official announcement from EA.
