I think you should try Float32, it makes the game look tons better imo, especially outdoor areas. And you get no noticable performance decrease.
For gameplay tweaks, you could get a mod that gives traders the ability to repair your stuff. Though it might make the game a tad too easy. ;)
dont need that with the latest patch.

I recommend the Zone Reclamation Project, it's based off of Barak's 1.0004 bug fix, but fixes a lot more. It turned my game from a glitch ridden unplayable nightmare into an experience that is actually enjoyable.

Apparently it works with most other mods too, but I don't use any other mods yet, so I'm not sure.

(

But it's DEFINITELY not for the first time players. I haven't played with it but just tried and I know it changes the game drastically, one of the most global mods ever. There should be English version as well as description somewhere if they did what they promised a few months back on GSC's English forums.

first time play it without mods. none. get the "original" feeling.
then dive into Oblivion Lost v1.1 (just released, it's awesome) or the ABC Mod. both more true to the first visions of STALKER, harder, unforgiving, sometimes frustrating but truly brilliant. AI can get very stupid because of the unlocked wildlife and travelling NPCs. Main Quests always succeed once you enter the area, it's thought for freeplay. you have a sleeping bag, you have to buy a radiation detector, you can repair armor/weapons, everything is unbelievably expensive and getting shot really hurts and bandages are you greatest friend. New weapons skins, sounds, I am very happy with it.
extra missions, a new endboss, all mutants, you can drive cars.
days are lighter, nights are darker. NPC have limited seeing radius at night.
I would say the night is PITCH black. you will love your nightvision armor once you get it. until then it's terror. psy-dogs mess up your vision. growling in the woods behind you. a scream.
you sprint for the next building, pray for a safe place to wait/sleep until the morning....
play it on Hell difficulty to get the real stalker feeling: despair and terror

Sounds similar to the OLmod, only different. This could get confusing.
I want something with realistic weapons across the board and less spawning (as you'd need that with realistic weapons). More wildlife is fine.
Which ones do that?
mothra on 11/12/2007 at 20:21
realistic spawning....hmmm, never seen that achieved anywhere :(
of course those are all mods for AFTER first play, e.g. Oblivion Lost in russian original (!)
and they got plenty of wildlife. that much that sometimes I just have to wait for the soldiers to die from countless zombie waves without me
firing a shot. but the same happened to me many times. so you really need to be prepared for a hard time.

A bit more wildlife would be ok, but I guess it depends which ones.
I just wandered back through the garbage for the first time in a while and saw some person cross the road in the distance. I slowed down because I didn't want a fight, but then I saw he didn't show up on my map when I got closer!
Of course, it was a damn bloodsucker. I'm happy as hell those things weren't running around the first time through there.

Bloodsuckers in the Garbage? Hmm, never seen any. Perhaps you returned after Prypiat?
