What about an "extended time limit" mod? You get 1 day for missions that take very short time, and 2 or even 3 days if you need to kill someone that is miles away from your location when the mission is handed to you? Destroying lair of mutants should have 2 or 3 days, regardless of distances.

there's also a no time limit mod within the "faiakes mod", but i didn't get this one to run. but eventually I didn't need it anyway.

sadly this one didn't work for me:

This modification for stalker adds a completely new perspective of gaming to the X-RAY engine, rather than an RPG based horror/survival shooter it turns the game into something that favours a more attractive aspect of the engine by allowing the player to pay more attention to the visual detail of game creatures and environments.
If your a true adventurer at heart, you will most certainly be interested in trying out this modification.
It's 100% adventure and 0% horror, no need to hide under the bed cover for this one!so i used the traveler mod,
(
http://stalker.filefront.com/file/Traveler_Mod;78414)
where everyone is friendly to you. not really the same thing like the totally dead zone one gets from the explorer mod, but here you can roam around without hassle, too. the parties still fight each other so you hear gun noise from afar. or close. but still great for places like prypiat to explore. and it works with old saves. so after a first proper run through, this might be nice.
and for the chernobyl part, well... there's another perspective too...
oh speaking of hiding under the bed, i got to test this one:

Oh my cow! There are hundreds of mods for this game! THAT IS SICK! How am I supposed to get oriented in that. Some contain other, some are independant, I can only guess which are compatibile with what...
Oh that's so frustrating. Someone thinks I'll spend weeks checking all the mods before trying the game itself?
PLEASE, someone who knows those around well... post here some recommended setups (and really not recommended ones).
Some that won't remove any features, only add some, improve things, something that's a must-have. Your opinions of course.
snauty on 19/10/2007 at 10:27
check my recommendations above. ;)
no time limit on sidequests mod (self explanatory)
endurance mod (carry more weight)
repair mod (traders also repair yr equipped stuff)
and for fun on a second playthrough:
traveler mod (to roam around unhassled)

Well, removing the game rules is not exactly what I'd call an improvement.
I thought about some graphical and feature improvements. New things, not removing things. more realism e.g.

I wouldn't recommend playing with any mods the first time. It's a great game as-is and should be experienced for what it is.
The no time limit on sidequests mod I could see beeing useful, though. You don't know where a quest is going to take you until you accept it, and it might end up being somewhere that you don't have time to get to before the limit is up. After that you just have to go back to the same NPC to get the quest all over again.
I always thought it was a bit annoying, especially if I had already completed the quest and just didn't go back to the NPC that gave it to me in time.
