Is a Voodoo2 even DirectX 8 compliant? I think maybe thats why you are getting that problem. Try using your primary display adapter (if it's adequate enough that is!).

If it doesn't like the Voodoo 2, I think it will simply roll on the floor uncontrollably at the prospct of the Trio64V+ that accompanies it :)
I've already consigned Arx to the "games I will play when I get a new video card" list. There are a few of those now, so I should probably hurry up :)

Shadowcat - you've described my PC's reaction perfectly- the exact same sequence of events.
Saam - how can you switch over to the primary display adapter without being able to access the in-game option screen? Is there a way? The hand icon barely responds to anything - I've had to alt+cntrl+del every time to get out of the demo.

Fett:
make sure that Arx is not trying to run in 32bits graphics (edit cfg.ini and check for the BPS section). that might be a good reason for your system to switch to the software rasterizer. We got the gaming working on a Voodoo3 here.

Raf - could you be a little more specifc? Exactly what should the cfg.ini file say? What should I change it to?

Hi Raf:
When I tried it with a Voodoo3, I made sure to set the color depth to 16. No luck, starting the game changed it right back on me...
Raf on 5/3/2002 at 22:32
strange... I'll check that tomorrow with the programmers
Fett: I'm not at work, so I can't see precisely how's the exact string, but make sure that there is no 32 anywhere in the file basically, and if there is, try to replace it with a 16.

Hmmmm........that didn't work either.....
