Actually with that set of transactions you gain 10k. 10k from the initial two trades, then break even by trading a 10k for the two 5ks.

You know, I actually have been able to haggle with the creeper and the talking mudcrab for ABOVE THEIR VALUE, for some reason.........I never bothered trying to haggle for much more then an extra 2-5 gold though, which, can be useful since the creeper is willing to BUY GOLD, so I have been able to get small ammounts of chump change by exchanging 1 gold piece for 3 etc etc. Maybe it's just a glitch, but I know I have been able to.

The blacksmith in the craftsmans hall has a fair bit of money.

Sorry. At some point I switched from Mudcrab example to Creeper example. Anyway, I fixed my math for selling to the Mudcrab.

Would you really buy something if you had no idea what it did?

First of all, thanks for making me not feel alone in thread Necromancy. Second, the Blacksmith doesn't have much money, but you can easily steal an enchanted ebony shield from her :ebil:

Yeh im finding this to be a bit of a problem...
I just raided a Dark Brotherhood cave...well twice, and had more crap then anyone could buy, i sold off the small stuff to the custom armorsmith, the enchanter upstairs in his place and various people in the Great Bazzar, sleeping until they had more money, repeat. But i still have a pile of Daedric tantos...Each of which i can sell for more money then they have at any one time.
One fairly decent thing to do is buy a ridicoulously expensive enchantment, then dump the reduntant crap on the enchanter and get your money back. Of course if you can do enchantments yourself, YMMV...

the talking mudcrab is east of the daedric ruin "Ald Sotha", which is south-east of vivec... look on the map that came with the game... look south-east-east of vivec for a ruin... once you find it, continue east through the water... you'll come apon a dwemer ruin... keep going, it's directly on the other side of the island with the dwemer ruin on it...(on the east side, kind of more to the south east...)
if you want to sell him something worth 50,000 just do the following...
sell him something for 10,000
sleep 24 hrs
sell him something for 10,000
sleep 24 hrs
sell him something for 10,000
sleep 24 hrs
sell him something for 10,000
sleep 24 hrs
sell him the 50,000 dollar item, and buy back all four of the 10,000 dollar items, thus him paying you 10,000.
then sell him back the all 10,000 dollar items and kaboom! you just made yourself 90,000 dollard dude
right now my charecter (xbox version) has 810,988 GP, i got it up higher, i don't know if i got it in the millions yet, but it'd be SO easy to do... I have over 1,000,000 worth in daedric weapons alone... shit i prolly have that much worth in rubys and emeralds!!! I collect stuff in morrowind... isn't that sad...
