I'll try to make it, I'm traveling but I have my PC so if I can work it out I'll be there.
Is there a discord or something you use? Do people still play lan w hamachi or something similar?

We usually use either Teamspeak 3 or Mumble, and with the Elite Force mod you don't need to use Hamatchi; the last two times I just hosted a game, people connected to my IP, and that was that, more or less. We had to do some minor fiddling, but last Saturday Malf was able to join without any problems.

Very enjoyable SWAT 4 session with Sulphur and Jeshibu, the high point of which was probably when Jesh threw a grenade (gas? stinger?) into a room just as a bad guy came towards us, so he ended up headbutting the grenade right back at us. Fun times!
Seriously, though, SWAT 4 makes for some great coop and it does a bunch of things that barely any games have done since. The levels are great too - they feel realistic but they're also good spaces for the game mechanics. Not that I think there'd be all that much of a market for such a police-y game these days, but in terms of the gameplay I'd love to see an updated version of this.

It really is a shame nobody's done a game like it since, because there's a lot of room for improvement. Even with the Elite Force mod there's a lot of things that could be improved just by doing it on a current-day engine. Stuff like light not shining through closed doors (though maybe some silhouetting at the bottom would be cool), mirrors working like actual mirrors, baddies sometimes picking up their guns if you leave them there long enough, people not needing to be convinced into submission sometimes, people lying down if there's a gunfight over their heads... stuff like that.
But yeah, releasing this now would be pretty tone-deaf, and I don't think a game like this could contain an effective critique of police brutality.
Anyway, here's a protip on what to do if you're ever fighting SWAT and they throw a stinger grenade:

Back 4 Blood looks kind of tempting for a TTLG kru reunion. Too bad my old PC won't run this well, so I'm stuck with PS4.

I didn't even know about that, thanks for pointing it out! I loved L4D and L4D2 so I'm sure I'll like this as well.

Since the
Arma coop meetups will be coming to an end (we're planning one last game, but not just yet), it's probably a good time to discuss options for other coop meetups.
The main thing we'll be losing with
Arma is a coop game that more than four people can join in. One other option I can think of is
SWAT 4, which we've played once or twice, but I'm not sure if people would be up for more of that. Other than that, are there any good coop games for more than four people?
(
https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148063&p=2483909&viewfull=1#post2483909) Demagogue also suggested some more asynchronous games, such as
Among Us. Would people be interested in these? And what other options are there?
And finally, there's at least a smallish European group that has played VR coop in the past. What games would be suitable for this? Is this where we finally go on a Great Minigolf Hike with
Walkabout Mini Golf VR? Or do we all install the VR mods for
GTA V and
RDR2 and move permanently to a virtual Rockstar world?
P.S.: While I was the one organising and running the
Arma sessions, since I had the server set up for this, for future meetups it may be easier to organise those more ad hoc. This thread has proven useful in the past for that.

I was just thinking, what happened to Sulphur?
henke on 9/3/2022 at 15:33
Sulphur got so fed up with icemann that he left! Then icemann left. Then Sulph got covid. Then he recovered, mostly. He's around, but not really up for intese multiplayer action at the moment, sadly.
As for co-op gaming, I'd be up for:
SWAT 4
Human Fall Flat
RDR2 (non VR)
Walkabout Minigolf (on the Quest?)
Rec Room (via Steam)
Nine Parchments
Barotrauma
Don't have Game Pass at the moment but I can get it if someone finds something really good we could play on it. Actually, I'd really be up for Sea Of Thieves, if y'all wanna play that!
Thirith on 9/3/2022 at 15:59
I believe Walkabout Mini Golf is crossplay, so it shouldn't matter whether someone's using a Quest headset or a Rift (or even one of the other ones, if it's on Steam).
I've not played RDR2 in months, but I'd definitely be interested in checking out MP with others. In general, though, I'm happy to try most things recommended by the TTLG gang. Things are pretty busy at the moment, so I might not be around for every coop session, but I definitely miss hanging out online with the crew for shenanigans. Once we'll have had our final Arma game, I'll see that I can organise a SWAT 4 session or two, but in the meantime I'd be happy to join other people's games.
Dunno... should we try to get an RDR2 session going this Saturday (12/3)? Since I've not really played much RDR Online, it'd be best if someone else takes the lead, but I should be able to join.
