Like the sign says. There might be a thread about this somewhere, but a cursory search didn't bring it up.
I was toying with the notion of starting one (just for game playthroughs that may turn out amusing. Probably won't go anywhere) so I thought I'd canvass for any views around the joint.
Anyone out there got one? What do you use? What services are good? Setting up fairly easy? Problems and limitations found? etc
cheers

I only found this thread by clicking to see what's tagged with God Dammit dethtoll - but anyway Muz are you looking at a service like Blogger? Or installing software on your own hosting? If the latter, I've done ok with Nucleus CMS.

I'm using Wordpress' online hosting, and it's okay. The templates they provide are fairly generic, and if you want to customize them (or create one yourself) you have to either subscribe or else provide your own webspace, which I don't have.
Wordpress' online editor is finicky—it's difficult to get posts looking good with it, but I suppose if I knew HTML it wouldn't be an issue. My posts aren't usually too complex so I don't really worry about it. Stat tracking is useful and comprehensive - you can see how many hits you get, where they come from, what search terms they used, and what links they clicked (plus probably more details I don't care about). Other aspects of the control panel work well enough. Online setup is easy. Setting up on your own webspace is proved too difficult for me, though I have no database or server expertise (and I think my University hosting doesn't have PHP support, which is required). If your space meets the qualifications, there are some step by step guides that seem reasonable.
I wouldn't recommend it wholeheartedly, but I don't plan on switching services anytime soon, either.

The tag cloud on the search page gave me an immense laugh, I must say.
Anyhoo, cheers folks in general. I'm not really sure which way to go. I would guess that hosted is a lot simpler than doing it myself. But that assumption could be a mistake. Still seems like it'd be complicated. I'll have a look at their guides some time.
Oddly enough Wordpress is the only one a really have an opinion on and that's because I've had problems on a couple of Wordpress driven blogs I've visited and noticed the pattern.
They were externally hosted though. So maybe the native stuff is fine. Avoids home jigery pokery problems.
Is there anything in particular wrong with some of the others that folks might know about? Should one steer clear of blogger or live journal, say? (LJ doesn't seem all that bad these days. Inter blog searching and so on seem a bit limp)

I've posted a very small number of times on my Blogger page, never had any concerns with it when I did.

I use LJ. It seems to be used more for personal angst than say topical blogs like gaming or politics etc. But I don't know if that's down to its features or just historical trends, and my own experiences aren't extensive.
