Whoever updates the multiplayer FAQ for System Shock 2 may want to note this point regarding Hamachi.
Hamachi is capable of using UPnP to automatically configure itself and a UPnP enabled router to forward traffic. The problem with this is that even if you set the priority of your connection interfaces with the Advanced menu, you'll still get a different IP. In fact, with a UPnP enabled router (such as any recent Linksys router) you'll get the external IP of the router, which is no good for Shock 2 multiplayer. (nor does it actually make much sense, unless you know what UPnP does) Before I figured this out, I had extensive trouble with any DirectPlay game and network play.
So if you've been having to disable your internet gateway connection to get Shock 2 to use the right interface despite setting the use priority, you might want to check this. Especially if you have a Linksys router.
For Linksys routers, you can usually find the option to disable UPnP under the Administration "tab". There may also be a UPnP list (alongside Forwarded and/or Triggered ports) which you will want to check. If Hamachi is listed there you'll want to remove it.
You can also disable UPnP in Hamachi itself. This is with version 1.0.1.5 (an old version as of the date of this post).
Under Preferences->System->Troubleshooting, tick "Do not use Universal Plug and Play".
Your option may vary in name and location.

Hello Ahkaskar, the Multiplayer Guide here is a (meanwhile somewhat outdated) version of (
http://www.strangebedfellows.de/index.php?topic=61) the one we maintain at SBF.
Anyway, we just tested this and could see no difference, eg. still had to block SS2 from using the normal connection by means of a firewall. That doesn't mean UPnP couldn't make things even more problematic and turning it off certainly is a good idea. I'll make a note about this.

Plenty fair.
Sorry, I didn't really know how I should get the message out. I'm just hoping it'll save someone the headache I went through with games like SS2 and MW4.

That's cool. I made a note over at SBF and contacted D'Arcy who will update the MP Guide here as soon as he's back from holidays.
Thanks for helping. :)
