People are pricks for deciding they'd like to move?
When does this kick in? Across national borders? Towns? Suburbs?
Seems a bit rich coming from a country where the birth rate is still below replacement levels, and is only improving due to immigrant mothers. Immigration, of course, being something the Lib Dems broadly support.
So I hope that's not what SD is trying to say.

Now you're just being dumb.
It's great that Fonz has been seduced by Oz, has found career opportunities that might make him feel like he will be valued, and has met people, made friends and discovered a life that promises to be rich and fulfilling in a way that he felt has been lacking up until now.
And it's fantastic that those kind of possibilities exist at all.
It's just a shame he's using all this good stuff as an excuse to be a whingey cock on the Internet ~ while at the same time trying make out that he's somehow better than other people. I'd posit that the UK's woes are a symptom of that very same mind think. It's the rot caused by so much focus on individualism being in conflict with our brains; which have actually evolved to be wired to act and be happy as highly social creatures.

As much as I can understand fonz's desires/reasons for quitting the UK I'll laugh, alot, if we get a new non-Labour government that makes things awesome here.
I still think you did London wrong though bud. If you're young, single, and have a decent salary it's awesome socially. I almost feel bad we haven't had a TTLG meet in London earlier now.

I prospectively enter Australia in June this year ....I will be sitting on a couch in glorious weather rather than a couch in London looking at the gathering clouds and rain.
Big boat coming your way, Holmes. And Good Luck :)

Do you mean just you and him or in general because (

Holy shit, I looked away for a second!
Ok lets get it straight:
I don't hate the UK, or London - quite the contrary I've enjoyed myself in my 4+ years living in London. I've simply decided that its time to make a change, I am young enough and employable so why the heck not? I don't feel bad about leaving; hell i'm in the best mood of my life at the moment.
With regards to the way the UK is going - no matter what happens in tomorrows election I think the country is in for a very tough time ahead. That's not to say I dont think Australia is immune from the effects of the downturn; but things are going to get nasty here and I'm getting out before the shit hits the fan properly.
My time in the banking world has taught me that if you put the hours in, try your hardest and make the best of what comes across your radar you get - squat. The effort absolutely does not equal happiness both monetary and personally so why would anyone stick with that?
Fair play to people making the best of it and trying to improve things, this is my way of improving things - worth noting that I never intended on staying in the UK anyway; infact I'd always had a 5 year plan. Its just unfortunate my time in London hasnt been as productive as I thought it would be but thats for personal reasons more than anything. Also nothing in the UK is going to change, this is purely from my own perspective, its a very British thing to worry about what other people think - a good life lesson is to 'fuck everyone else, this is what makes me happy' (up to a point, obviously) so thats the way it is :thumb:
SE - we will destroy the pubs of London before I leave.
