I should have the system hooked back up and running soon.
Upgraded to XP PRO and new CPU etc. Back to my 1.5 Tbytes of HDD and without having to copy all the files to externals. Although I do have backups of all the major files on a few.
A friend has a good Clone app I'll be using to make full copies of all my HDD.

I found a cure for the problem.
I probably did it the long way round, but I made a XP universal Boot disk with (
http://www.ubcd4win.com/) UBCDWIN.
Booted the system, created a WINDOWS folder in the drive, copied the NTLDR from the XP install disc there.
Then just rebooted with the XPPRO install disc and it worked like a charm.
The system is up and running.
