Inspired by dylan barry's search thread I decided to make my own: I'm looking for the title of what I suspect to be a Russian Orthodox chant, that I've heard in a number of places.
The most complete version I heard is in Yello's track (
http://rapidshare.com/files/34594257/05_-_monolith.mp3.html) Monolith.
Other tracks with parts of the chant include:
Anime:
*Noir OST1 - 'Les Soldats' - large portion, forms the base for track (+of course 'Les Soldats II' on the second soundtrack)
*Texhnolyze - ??? (i.e. in Rogue 13, scene with Ran and her bodyguards at the end) - slight variation
Games
*Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen II - (
http://www.lokmusic.com/mp3/bo2_08_thesarafanlord.zip) 'The Sarafan Lord' - small snippet, around 1:24 and 1:45
*Shadow Hearts II - 'Rasputin'and 'Evil Gate Opener I'- small snippet throughout both tracks
*Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption - small snippets in several tracks, i.e. menu music
Anyone up to the challenge? :)

That's much harder, because whilst I can't speak for Russian plainchant as this may or may not be, certainly in terms of Gregorian plainchant, there's no specific composers and an awful lot of different versions because it's been around for so long - it's not quite the same as finding a piece of classical music, because it would also probably vary from place to place. If you can get someone to hear what the words are, it would be a start.
Having said that, it could be something later by a specific composer, although I have no idea what. The recording (if it's the same in all of those places) is probably on some third-party sound effect/ambience library CDs.
