Ah, just a general we. Not a specific we. He's reviews editor in chief for a major games publication, isn't he.
So you think he means "we, the reviewers"? Yes it's a general we. Just after that he talks about gamers and critics encouraging such attitudes. It's about gaming culture, not game industry.

No, I think he means we as in he and his general audience of general gamers, general games journalists and those with a general interest in the general games industry, culture and ecosystem. I think it's a general 'we'.

Phrases like "The way some people are talking about it" indicate that he is talking about a specific attitude within the industry, not about the general state of the industry.
Using phrases like "some people" or "many say" etc. are almost universally considered to be bad journalism. Reporting what an unverified number of non-specific people supposedly think about something isn't the same as reporting an actual factual study on what people think.
It's often used by "journalists" that want to manipulate their audience into thinking something is true, when it may not actually be. Listen to a (for example) Fox News broadcast and note how many times they say things like "many Americans think" or "some people aren't happy about X". It's sloppy journalism to generalize an opinion of any kind without sourcing the info in any way. Even using one specific person/company as an example is a pretty terrible way to attempt to claim an entire industry thinks this way, as that's considered anecdotal evidence, which also frequently makes for terrible journalism.
Basically, he's just saying what his point of view on the industry is, not whether or not it's objectively true that this is the way the industry feels. You can set up any straw man argument you want by saying whatever vague unsupported generalizations you'd like to make, but that doesn't make it good or valid journalism to do so.
So I must concur that this video is nothing more than a biased rant, and definitely has zero journalistic value.

I think we should whip up a fake resume & LinkedIn profile and apply.

This is not journalism, though. Not even game journalism. He isn't reporting on an issue. If you really wanted to bring journalism into this then it would be something like an opinion piece. And come on... are we really nitpicking on the language now down to the nuances of individual phrases?
Also, once again, this is about a specific attitude. Nowhere is he saying that the whole industry thinks like this. He is saying that the attitude exists, that it can be harmful, and he brings examples to support the claim. It's a valid argument supported by examples and a nice companion piece to the pasta sauce episode. No amount of character assassination is going to change that.

That is exactly what EM is doing and yes, they are doing it for wider appeal. I think the clearest illustration of this is experience points. It's as if EM said "this is a mechanic found in many successful games so Thiaf has to have it too." ... Even so, they were trying to innovate for no other sake but innovation, something the video summarized well, IMO.
So, let me get this straight. They want to adopt what everyone else is doing to be more popular, and you're calling this "innovation for no other sake but innovation"? I would call it "copying for the sake of popularity". It's neither innovation, nor for the sake of innovating. And that's your "clearest illustration"? If that's the best you've got, you've got nothing.

Yes, but it's unclear if it would be for T4 or not. The job posting is under the "Marketing" category on their Jobs site, rather than under "Thief." The Thief section actually lists, "No jobs currently!" Considering the job posting probably opened up within days of b1skit's departure, I assumed the job was for T4, but I'm not sure.
Renault on 26/10/2013 at 02:23
But b1skit was not the CM for Thief 4, he was CM for all of Eidos Montreal games, so it makes sense.
