The more I think about it, the more I realize how climatized I/we have become to swinging sounds. The truth is, swinging a wrench or a psi amp would probably be such an awkward process (seeing as they're both relatively dense items) that you wouldn't reach the velocity needed to get a whooshing sound. Some crystals are relatively light and a laser rapier is probably very light since it has essentially no rotational inertia. I wouldn't mind a silent wrench and amp myself.
The thing about how fire should damage robots a bit doesn't really make sense to me. Unless you're burning thermite on top of a robot laying on the ground, I can't see how any brief thermal event could be a threat to a non-organic enemy. What kind of cheap shit is Triop making if a fireball or a fiery "explosion" can render damage to it.
I have to agree about the whole "screaming toilet" complaint though lol

I can turn off the shields the worms and their helpers have set up around the shuttles. Once they're down, I can blow holes in those TriOptimum brand tin cans with my sidearm.
That kind.
Yes, it's talking about the shuttles, but I would think shoddy workmanship would carry over into other parts as well.

I can see no reason why the toilets scream when burned. It's quite bizarre.

Boy...they're in trouble then.
Even so, projectile weapons would probably produce much more localized deformations than a psionically generated energy blast might....just based on common sense. If the workmanship is poor then whatever damage a fireball can do should be nothing compared to what a bullet can do...then there's armor piercing rounds. No wonder Irrational made the pistol so freaking powerful.

protocol droids look quite fragile (remember, they are supposed to be assistant/helper units, they are not meant to take damage in combat),they clearly have a lot of exposed wiring,so an explosion of any kind (and the pyrokinesis projectile clearly causes a small explosion, that means heat
and blast pressure) would probably be enough to damage them.just try throwing a molotov cocktail inside your pc and see if it still works once the fire is out :sly:
I suppose that the combat bots are thermally shielded, but that means they shouldn't take any damage from cryokinesis as well-think throwing a bottle with liquid nitrogen on a tank.wouldn't do a thing.

Perhaps he's referring to the player scream that's triggered every few seconds when the pyro field is active... a vestige of the original plan to have pyro field damage both enemies and the player, I'd guess.
Rainalkar on 9/6/2009 at 15:54
That would sound odd, if it really was the plan from the start. Maybe the player is just hot, but not that much that it loses HP :)

Point taken but I think we can assume that even a protocol droid isn't quite as half assed as a walking PC CASE. Maybe little bit damage ok :D
Oh and of course a molotov cocktail would kill a PC....the rag would get jammed in the case fan, causing the CPU to reach critical mass, detonating with the force of a small thermonuclear device...duhhh.
Re: the fire thing....i laugh every time I think of what must be going through Goggles' head when he lights up.
"Aight, lots of worms and shit in this room....time to cook em" ZRRRRRRR [Pyro on] "Nyaahhhh fack....it burns, it burns!!! I can feel my ass hairs sizzle." [Does chicken dance while toilets explode around him]

The pyro field doesn't damage the player, though. But every time it hits something else, it triggers a player scream sample, as if that sample is being used as the damage sound for whatever it's hitting, even though I can't find any schema references to it outside the player's pain sounds, which are player-only.

nope.its triggered exlusively by items (some breakable, some unbreakable),like chairs, toilets, computer terminals and more.and btw, pyro field actually has very destructive effects on the surroundings (considering its just "fire")-it destroys almost all breakable decorations (pipes etc).its kind of fun-try walking down a narrow corridor in medsci, everything is breaking and crashing down when you get near :D
