Thanks for explaining it. :)
I thought modern computers would be able to calculate objcast in a matter of seconds. :erm:

Well... not really. Or, at least, I don't have a modern enough computer. :)
They don't exactly take minutes any more, but even a couple of extra seconds is annoying if you have to wait for them often.
Also, DromEd was made, what, 9-10 years ago? So it was of course designed for the computers that existed then.

I think that normally games would benefit from faster computers into the infinity, though the word 'benefit' may not always be correct. :p

What I meant was, if you think it takes long to calculate ObjCast lighting these days, imagine what it was like on the computers DromEd was made on.

That must have taken plenty of minutes.
The mapper would probably start the objcast recalculation and take a nap. :p

just wanted to note that the first ops map (with the xerxes core and the elevator) also has screwed quick-lighting. and one of the hydro maps is missing its "regenerator" sign.
something that's been bothering me- why the hell does polito not have a sign by her office bulkhead? sure, there's one by her door, but that's after the bulkhead. most people using this mod already know where it is, but in the context of the game some crew member wandering around on the ship might not know where it is. it would only make sense to stick a sign near her bulkhead door, maybe near those 3 crates. something you could see from across the room, for example.
oh, and as for shocked, nothing happens. it doesn't start up at all. there isn't even a process visible in task manager.
[update] it's starting to look like the entirety of ops needs a quick-lighting runthrough, though the map with all the private bedrooms and whatnot (operations B) is the worst by far.

Thanks a lot, Kolya.

So the pink water bug is the only one left I guess?
Kolya on 11/3/2007 at 21:14
No the pink water bug was solved before.
