With machine 1, try add some extra stuff to your hard drive, a few dozen megabytes.
With machine 2, this could a problem with the cutscenes or the copy protection. Try rename lgvid.ax and cutscenes folder to anything you want. If that won't work, fix the names and then try a no CD patch, I'm not allowed to help you where to find one though.

1. open the file 'cam.cfg' and add this line to the bottom:
Code:
skip_starting_checks
Making sure to leave at least one blank line after it.
That erroneous message will never appear again.

Bjossi,
Applying the No CD patch will overwrite the WinXP patch, won't this lead to more problems?
Nameless,
Thank you! Machine 1's problem instantly cured!
It's a little early in the morning to ring my g/f and try the same trick on machine 2 but I'll report back later on the outcome.
Thanks for your time guys.

Nope, the XP patch is useless if you get a no CD patch. If you have a dualcore/hyperthreaded system you'll want to disable CPU1 in the affinity settings of shock2.exe though.

Yes yes, I know it's thread necromancy, but I was basically told to do it!
Ahem. Anyhow, I merged blaydes' Ejecting Brass mod with this one and he told me to mention it, but I was too lazy to until now.
Now before you go: "and we should care why", there is actually an extra point to be made.
If I'm not mistaken, PSI can go up to 10, but certain powers only account for a level up to 8.
Psi stat: 6
Worm Skin Armor: +2
Overcharge: +1
Psi booster: +1
Well, I posted an extra gamesys with entries for Pyrokinesis and Cryokinesis at PSI 9 and 10, and I was curious if they worked. The damage suddenly ramps up largely when you hit 9 and especially 10, so I imagine it's easy to notice for experienced PSI users. So yeah... could I get somebody who would actually notice something like that to test it? Ahahahaha.

BRILLIANT! And, if the effect changes were measured to where they'd be a consistent increase from previous levels of those powers, they could be reasonably included in ADaOB. I'd say do it for all powers.
Straylight's mod is to make the game more consistent and balanced, and everybody elses' mods are to make the game more... cool. I like to do my own gamesys modding to get the best of both worlds, and editing psi powers like that gave me the idea to try that with all powers.
Hmm... too bad there's no "critical strike" calculation to play with.
Louis Cypher on 13/7/2007 at 22:45
It's not consistent at the moment because PSI sucks.
In Cryokinesis, you get ONE point of damage for every PSI you have above base. I wish I was kidding. Luckily, you can change how much you get for individual levels if I'm right, so I ramped up the increase on 9 and 10.

Well, cryokinesis is a starting power (for psi-trained players), so it's not going to be something that *should* be really really strong by the end of the game. Gotta have incentive to branch out.

I'm more interested in seeing if it works first.

I agree. Cryokinesis should inflict more damage at low PSI and then not increase much. I think it's mainly there to get you through Engineering.
If you make Cryokinesis and Pyrokinesis ramp up significantly at high PSI so you can go blast everything up, you'll end up fighting like a marine rather than a psi player.
