Annoying item selection feature in thief 2. - by MACGRUBER7693

Every time I pause the game(go to the map screen ect.) my equipped item resets to the triangle lockpicks. Do any of you know why this might be? Is it just a feature of the game or something I did? Is it a bug? Is there anyway to disable it? I'm using the steam version of thief 2 by the way.

I think, for it NOT to be a glitch, it could be a keybind or hotkey conflict.
