Sorry to post and still continue my problem here under this thread. I thought this issue is contest related, but now it appears it's not. @moderators, feel free to move this thread somewhere else.
I copied my thief gold folder to C:\thief_gold but it did not fix the problem.
The problem is the folder is read-only. Actually, every single folder in my system is read-only... Whenever I change it to normal folder (aka system folder) it changes back to read only... How do you guys fix it? My system is Windows 10 Home.
Of course despite every single folder in my system is read-only I can still modify their content, rename or delete them... It just makes read-only limitations to some executables, I guess...
This official workaround didn't fix the problem:
(
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/326549/)
Quote:
To remove the Read-only attribute and to set the System attribute, use the following command:
attrib -r +s drive:\\{path}\{foldername}
Launching thief as an administrator did not fix the problem.
Besides, when you speak about "protected folder", do you mean read-only folder or something else? If something else, what do you mean exactly?

This might not fix this, but I've noticed that your resname_base has +.\ at the end of it. On my end, it doesn't. Try taking that out to see if that fixes it.
Thank you GORT for trying, but that didn't helped.
I know ppl, that if I would like to fix my filesystem awkwardness, I should probably go to different forums. But still, everything else works perfectly when I play any FM. This object model is the only issue. I'm sure there should be another way around to make it work without fixing the protected folder / read-only folder issue...

I've finally played and voted on all the entries (other than my own, obviously). Thanks to everyone for making this a spectacular occasion!

Reinstalling from Polish CD release fixed the problem. Sounds like Thief Gold Steam version made some problems.

Just finished uploading the scores and the reports to the site, so perhaps it's time to share some conclusions.
First of all, a huge word of respect and thanks to all the authors who contributed their entries. It requires discipline and dedication to achieve your goals and meet the deadline and it's absolutely amazing so many authors made it to the end! Kudos to all of you.
When it comes to specific observations, I was astounded with the number of quality city missions in the contest. The Sound of a Burrick in a Room and The Whistling of the Gears were extremely creative, atmospheric, and a pure pleasure to play. Similarly, Lost Among the Forsaken featured some impressive design and played very smoothly. Rose Garden was also masterfully crafted, but much less “user-friendly” than the rest and thus I rated it slightly lower. Also worth noting here is Making a Profit which I felt featured a city built quite differently than your usual Thief town, yet still a very enjoyable one.
The undead missions were naturally also represented in quite a number, but when it comes to your typical tomb raiding I think it's getting difficult to come up with something innovative, especially being restricted to using stock resources. Still, The Tombs of St. Tennor had some very creative and original locations and that was my favourite undead mission this year. The Catacombs of Knoss also offered some unusual gameplay. The contest also featured some stunning ruined/abandoned locations, with the already mentioned Lost Among the Forsaken being second to none, but I really also liked the dark and solemn atmosphere of The Burning Bedlam very much.
I found it quite surprising that the Hammer/Technology-themed missions were not as strongly represented. The Whistling of the Gears, which I've played as the very last mission in the contest, obviously featured a brilliant industrial theme, albeit without the Hammers. Yet it was the enormous and sophisticated factories of The Burning Bedlam that I found the most impressing, even though they only constituted a portion of the mission. Finally, the warehouses of An Enigmatic Treasure... looked stunning as well.
One other area which doesn't fit any of the above, but definitely deserves its own mention is the hotel from The Scarlet Cascabel. It's colossal, it's overwhelming, it's beautiful and authentic. The exploration of that place was really a pleasure from beginning till the end.
As some people have already noted here, the contest must've been sponsored by Sandbag Inc., right? They were as popular as crates around the levels. There's also been lots of dirty humor here and there, but naaaay, I don't mind ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) In fact, I had a good laugh time and again. Always nice to find such funny bits in a mission.
Many our missions put real emphasis on vertical exploration, which really opened a new dimension for gameplay. The Sound of a Burrick in a Room and The Whistling of the Gears especially left no ledge, no window, and no roof unpassable with many spots reachable even without extensive use of rope arrows. I loved that there was so much to do and find in those beside the obligatory objectives.
So, to recapitulate, my personal top 3 missions were (in no particular order here) Lost Among the Forsaken, The Sound of a Burrick in a Room, and The Burning Bedlam. I really, really liked the format of this contest - stock res only gave it a fantastic classic feel and made many authors join. As a result we had so many quality entries and playing them all during the two month period was an amazing experience. Can't wait to join the T2 contest already, whether as an author or a reviewer :D

14 days left to vote. Maybe a thread reminding forum visitors of the deadline is in order? I can imagine there are people who have not yet delved into the contest entries who would now use the time remaining to play a couple of them and then submit their votes.

Heureux de voir toujours des français se promener ici :cheeky: I often came, since my childhood too, looking for clues about some FMs when i got stuck. In fact I know many people here, Slyfoxx the narrator, the friendly FenPhoenix, Purah, Skacky, Saturnine and many other members still active or.. Not :erg:
Many FMs are such masterpieces that I enjoyed those ones rather the originals so thanks to all authors. Also thanks to this awesome community making Thief is still alive since two decades.
Conerning the contest, I did not play all the FMs. Often I start a game only to see the aesthetic qualities of the map and its level-design. If it's impresses me, i play it for sure.
So my favorite so far is Lost Among Forsaken, the gloomy and creepy atmosphere was very immersive and the rooftops, streets and sewers provide a good verticality. A little bit labyrinthine so fortunatly the map is not bigger.
My second favorite reminds me the mission wich Garrett steal the Quintus Horn, it's Catacombs of Knoss. Except the contrast (Too bright or too dark) I Liked everything, especially the riddles. Plus the author had the good idea to give an object to the player that avoids many back and forth. Well done !
In this contest we have many Old Quarters/Rooftops maps so my third Favorite was quite refreshing... And challenging. It is Shadow Plays. I like missions wich allows you to walk and chill on the streets among the NPC's and guards without get hunted and killed.
Some other FMs was good too. Rose Garden is a typical FM that I enjoy just staying and watching every details but exploring this one was frustating for me. The path to take is not always obvious and sometimes I had the impression of cheating by exploiting glitchs to progress while it was the normal way ! :laff: Still like Melan's work (especially his TDM) in any case but this one is not friendly at all imo.
I really like the first part of The scarlet scarabel. It's very uncommon to play a FM wich take place out the city and that's why its always a pleasure to play Forest or other exotic FMs but I did not play at the second part because I don't like missions like key-hunting or else and this one require to find an HUGE ammount of hidden key/objects. Yes in this one, i mean, you need to find a key in order to open a room which contains an other key that open an other secret door that contain other keys to open an special access that contains one of the four objects to collect to unlock a special room wich contain etc... Hey stop ! My motivation felt to zero already :laff: but i must admit the hotel is very, very well crafted and voice acting sounds very good !
So Well done to all authors and thanks to make Thief great again. :p

If your favorite so far has been Lost Among the Forsaken, you should give The Whistling of Gears a shot. Different setting, but similary evocative and richly atmospheric, with simillar connectivity for exploration.
If you like Melan-style (or Skacky-style) missions but found Rose Garden "not friendly" -- to borrow your language for it -- you should really try The Sound of A Burrick In A Room. If you're loading missions and judging them by their initial appearance, make sure you explore a little bit beyond the opening of The Sound of A Burrick In A Room, which is deliberately old school in its opening before it opens up (it nods to the OM Thieves Guild just at the beginning).

The scarlet scarabel.
Ha ha, nice! I like it! Intentional, though, or just lost in translation?
Either way, pretty funny.. just work on your capitalization.

I wish the deadline for voting can be extended a little bit. Still 10 entries to play and most of them are very large.
Yandros on 19/2/2019 at 13:40
At least vote on the ones you did play! but sorry the deadline won't be extended again, we already gave an extra month.
