Okay let's move on but just one more question: why would T4ief make you long for deadly shadows?
Because it was so so so so so bad, that people would rather wish for another thief like deadly shadows than having to play this crappy reboot crap. Deadly shadows is (as you surely know) not as popular as thief 1 + 2, but still with it´s amazing plot and garrett-being-garrett type it was accepted. T4ief on the other hand was nothing but crap. I for myself loved thief deadly shadows, but not as much as thief 1+2 (which are both the top for me). T4ief on the other hand... I dont even want to think about this crap, I dont even know how they managed to destroy it this badly, its like they wanted it to be a flop
And to stay on topic: Good luck to all the participants :thumb: I´m super hyped!! :)

-The Chalice of Souls, a re-imagning of Thi4f's brothel mission. And yes, TDS and even Thi4f missions can be used too. ;)
I remember this and was staggered that the mission author
1. was so impressed by a mission in New Thief that they had to recreate it in dromed.
2. anyone could confirm that the mission was actually a thing from Thief because that would mean playing that New Thief game long enough to get to that level, committing that experience to memory, and then evaluate whether it was better or worse than the Thief one. Was the New Thief brothel mission also a tedious slog, because they nailed it.
iirc, I was more impressed by the NPC locksmith who was welding a door or something in the mission, that was neat.

Actually it is:
Kidnap
:cheeky:
I've also planned to merge parts of Precious Cargo into the mission since both are tightly coupled (both gameplay- and story-wise).

Thief (2014) is getting the same kind of vitriol that Deadly Shadows got in the first years after its release. I never played the former, but I get cautious when I read comments like "It is complete crap, nothing good about it". That is usually not true. I reckon it is probably not a great game, but I am sure should I ever play it, I would discover interesting or even inspiring design or gameplay elements.
I would not mind any entries in this contest that take a stab at elements from Thief (2014).

You really should first play it, so you can say that again. I rather think you will be surprised at how they were able to make it this bad.
I for myself went in playing it without any prejudice but man was this a crappy game. I remember that I tried liking it, even played it a 2. time but it made me only think more what a complete crap it was, such a big disgrace to the perfect thief universe. Also, it is not getting the same kind of vitriol as thief deadly shadows. There are many people that love deadly shadows (including me), while I dont know anyone (really not even one who is a fan of the first two games) that liked the thief 2014 crap.
The only good thing about this game are the wallpapers that are available. Since thief 1+2 had such bad graphics its almost impossible to get good wallpapers from them. deadly shadows doesnt have that many either, only thief 2014 serves well in this.
I for myself am happy to not see any elements of that crap, in a contest or at all:angel:

This is exactly the kind of posting I meant: "complete crap vs. total perfection".

I have been here since 2005. It was nasty in the first few years. Granted though, over time people eased up about Deadly Shadows. Notice how my previous post says "in the first years after its release".
