I realise that one can "herd" Anna towards the locked UNATCO door after you escape, removing the need to kill her. I've tried steering her towards the door, but even with the assault rifle, she goes down far too easily after she cloaks. My tranquiliser darts don't have much of an impact on her either, as I'm killer by her, or I hit her with one bullet too many (I think the darts only work once her health hits 25) and she dies.
I also tried herding Alex Jacobson to the door, as apparently he can open the door as well. Well, I got him to the upper level (with Anna standing around downstairs), but he won't open the damn thing. He keeps on running into it sideways, both when I'm blocking his path deliberately to herd him, and also when I stand back to see if he gets it himself.
It's driving me mad; my question is, was this glitch fixed in the GOTY edition, or do I need to keep on cracking at it? I'd rather not just noclip through the door. Yes, I know, but the posts didn't indicate if this was a pre-patched game or not.

The method I heard of approaching her from her right (so the door is behind her) and throwing a LAM at her feet. She then turns in the other direction and opens the door to run away. She escpes the blast, the door is open and you can leg it.

Wow, I was under the impression that Anna had to be killed eventually, the UNATCO escape being the final opportunity for it. You go up and kill Anna (who's never cloaked during a fight for me, btw), then go back and see Alex, and he'll give you the key.
But if there are other ways of doing it, then it goes to show just how much versatility the game really has.

Honestly, the ability to herd her into opening the door for you was probably not intentional.

But if you somehow manage it, Gunther's dialog in Paris reflects it.

Wouldn't Gunther's entire motivation for pursuing you be nullified if Anna survived? I am going to try this myself, or at least look through the files to see what he says, but exactly HOW does his dialog change?

Well, for one thing he does not give you the "No, I will not forgive. Not for the killing of Agent Navarre. I will follow you Denton... I will get you." infolink that you usually get when leaving UNATCO for the last time. IIRC he also says something different in the Cathedral.

If you noclip out do you get the same result? Or does Anna have to flee?

It should be the same result.
