High heels, gyroscopically enhanced traction blah...whatever. I guess they where more like platform boots. I only remember that because when I used to draw the patlabors in school a friend commented saying "why is your robot thingy wearing high heels?"
The plot and the descriptions of the robots sounds a lot like Patlabor I. The one where
there's a giant building out in Tokyo Bay that resonates at a particular frequency when the winds hit a certain speed. The resonations trigger an error in the programs of Labors running the HOS system and drives the Labors crazy.
Hm, I just found out that the same person who did the translation for the english voice dub for Neon Genesis Evangelion and some voice acting in the show also was a voice actor in Deus Ex: Invisible War. I totally knew the name Tiffany Grant seemed familiar. She did Asuka in Evangelion and Klara Sparks in Deus Ex: Invisible War.

That link is acting wierd for me. If you have problems, know that I'm looking for a better one.
Anyone read the books? I finished the first (after reading a short story by her) about this time last year, but never got around to the other ones. Pretty good.

YOU MUST READ THE BOOKS.
YOU WILL READ THE BOOKS.
THIS IS NOT OPEN TO DISCUSSION.
(this is of course assuming you are talking about The Eartshea trilogy. otherwise, disregard the above directive).

Wait. A Nausicaä remake? Aren't you confusing "remake" with "non-butchered" here?
I have a copy of the original version which was not released in the USA. A friend of mine was a graphics tech and friends of members of the studio that produced it. He had three copies and gave me one.
No sub-titles or pretenses about reaching the English speaking public.
Since then I got a copy of the "re-make" uncut with sub-titles.

Never seen the other two, but Samurai Champloo is one of my favorites. Reminded me alot of Cowboy Bebop (made by the same people iirc). Had alot the same feel, kind of a back story to each character that developes over the show (like spike and jet), with a fairly light hearted series of events intersperced with serious events, just the right mix. Cowboy bebop was alot more serious but they remind me of eachother, its a great anime.
Another I would suggest called Planets ES. Its kind of silly but it gets serious in the end, its a good story and not the standard samurai/vampires/mech anime, it has almost no action until the very end but you wont care a bit.
EDIT: And YES if your talking about Earthsea read the book, RIGHT NOW. I rant about them all the time because somehow no-one thinks of them as great fantasy, they are so much better written than 90% of the fantasy shit out there (most of which I still like). They just kill me, I've read them probably 3 times, I almost never go back and re-read fantasy (other than lotr of course), its hard to explain whats so great about it but read and you will find out. I think it has to do with the kind of distanced writing style the writer has, insted of talking from a first person perspective its almost like your observing the story as opposed to being a part of it. You will never see her narrate their thoughts which is one thing I found awesome. You wont even feel like you're reading fantasy.

I've been busy watching Eureka Seven right now. Its fun. (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qb4SeMfSUM&search=Eureka%20Seven) Here's the opening.
And a synopsis..
Quote:
Eureka Seven is a story set in a distant future. A few years previous, mankind were threatened by a mysterious phenomenon named "Summer of Love," but according to official history, it was stopped by a military researcher called Adrock Thurston who gave his life to protect mankind.
Renton Thurston, the series's main character and Adrock's son, is a fourteen-year-old boy who idolizes Holland, the leader of a group of mercenaries. Called Gekko State, the group is apparently just an independent militia that stands against the policies of a belligerent and oppressive government.
The story revolves around Renton's joining Gekko State and his budding relationship with the mysterious Eureka, a female member of Gekko State and pilot of the LFO Nirvash typeZERO. When Renton and Eureka pilot the Nirvash together, powered by the mysterious "Amita Drive", it becomes almost invincible, and can liberate a massive amount of rainbow colored energy in a phenomenon named "The Seven Swell".
