Oshii seems to be getting older, because all his works are exactly the same.
(
http://www.tachiguishi.com/trailer.html) OH RLY?
Anyway, I actully like Innocence more than Howl's Moving Castle. It is true that's it's mostly Oshii spouting philosophy 101, but when he makes it that damn pretty I can't help but like it. Howl's Moving Castle was a disappointment for a Miyazaki movie. The pacing's off, and the ending is all over the place. It's still enjoyable mind you, but definitely one of his weakest movies.

I'll second that. I wanted to love Howl, I really really wanted to love it, but... it just didn't flow very well. It's okay, the music and animation are great and all, but in the end the story just isn't there for it.
Innocence on the other hand I adored. After I found some decent subtitles for it (took a while before the DVD appeared) that did justice to the dialogue; curse you, HawkS subtitles, die in pits of hell for daring to call that subtitles.

That's sort of the impression I'd got from reading; indeed, there were times in GitS 1 where I found myself rolling my eyes at all the filosofee. Thing is, I don't read the background mangas so so far I've not really found what must be an incredibly frustrating lack of depth for long-time fans.
Has anybody else seen Sky Blue (aka Wonderful Days)? As I said, I though it was visually superb, and the environmentalist subtext was entertaining too.

Saw it. Thought it was pretty. And that the story was pants.

I've got a few animes in my back catelogue that I plan to get around to watching:
Steamboy
Spirited Away
Howl's Moving Castle
Which is best?

I'm not really one for anime tv shows. Ghost in the shell SAC is reasonably good, fairly thought provoking and sometimes quite intense.
Two things I've watched and thought were awesome. CyberCity: Psychic Trooper & something I can't remember the name of. It was about cops driving robots, big huge ones (can't be many of those  ) , with high heels for some reason.
They had to stop some sort of operationg system from screwing up all the robots in the city, something about a HOS. I know thats not much but it was such a long time ago, I can only remember a few images but I can remember how I felt watching them, just awestruck.
Devilman was pretty good, if a little too smutty.
Seeing the guys mum get twisted in half with her intestines pouring out
Sick as fuck but I couldn't take my eyes of it.

Finally after about 15 or 20 years of waiting, a remake of
Nausiica In the Valley of wind was released. I just burned it to DVD.
So you decided to reward them for their effort by pirating it.
Dumbass.
