Finally after about 15 or 20 years of waiting, a remake of Nausiica In the Valley of wind was released. I just burned it to DVD.
And a couple of newish Anime series I am collecting are running on Cable TV.
Samurai 7 an anachronistic anime of Kurosawa's Seven Samurai and another: Samurai Champloo. A "help me find my father" story. Two ronin help a young girl in her search for "a Samurai that smells like sunflowers".
Both quite entertaining, if you are into Anime.

Benderspink and producer Josh C. Kline are teaming to adapt the classic Japanese anime "Star Blazers" into a live-action feature says The Hollywood Reporter.
Known for its epic imagery and themes of brave sacrifice and respect for heroes lost in the line of duty, "Star Blazers" is the U.S. name for 1970s Japanese anime TV series "Space Battleship Yamato." It comprised three television series, five animated features and a host of merchandise. A live-action adaptation was set up at Walt Disney Studios in the 1990s.
The story is set in the 22nd century after an alien attack on Earth has forced survivors to live in underground cities. After a message arrives from a distant planet promising a cure for the proliferating surface radiation, Earth's last vestige of hope rests on the crew of a powerful yet untested spaceship, which must reach the purported new ally and return home before mankind ceases to exist.

I liked Space Battleship Yamato. I used to catch it when I lived in the San Francisco area. Glad to hear about the upcoming production. Thanks. :thumb:

You should watch Beserk and Cowboy Bebop - two of the best anime series ive ever seen and yet to be topped.
Saying that, I have all the Neon Genesis Evangelicon to watch, and I hear thats rather good too.

I have watched. Bebop is OK, but I'm not too hot on Beserk or Neon. :)

Not exactly anime, but the Final Fantasy VII movie just came out on DVD a few days ago. Not a perfect movie, but visually amazing. Worth watching just for the fight scenes.

Oh, yes,
definitely Berserk. It is unmatched in story depth. If you can get over the not-so-great animation (some scenes are done well, while others... aren't) and the shoddy dubbing (everything seems to be said at the same distance), you'll fall in love with Berserk.
Did I mention someone gets chopped in half in the first episode? Yeah. Someone gets chopped in half.

Man, the end of Berserk was so goddamn crushing... :(
It didn't ever continue after it went into that demon world and that evil guy forced the protagonist to watch him fucking that girl, did it?
Saying that, Cowboy Bebop is the best anime I've ever seen - especially when you consider the movie.

The anime only covers the first half or so of volume 1, about a quarter of volume 3, and up to about half of volume 13.
To make the story fit the timelength of an average anime, however, a great amount of information and story was cut out...a great amount. Not to say I didn't enjoy the anime (I enjoyed it a great deal), but there's a bunch that is missing.
Currently that have been 11 volumes translated and released by Dark Horse comics at about 14 USD each while there's been about 30 volumes released in Japan.

Samurai Champloo is great. Funny, touching, and great action. Gotta love break-dance sword fighting.
Second that on Berserk, though I'm glad the anime ends when it did, since I felt the manga after that point is kinda meh.
