The Spirit of Ecstasy isn't an angel, it's just a woman with some cloth billowing out behind her. The Angelwatch statue is of course an angel, and angels were (https://www.google.com/search?q=art+deco+angels&source=lnms&tbm=isch) kind of a thing in art deco.
