AngelLoader v1.11.0 - now works better on Wine! (updated 2025/07/24)

So it seems AngelLoader only loads ZIP files from your Fan Missions folder. Not 7Zip or Rar. Why is this? Ugh. Now I'd have to re-zip all my missions as ZIP? Literally only 1 mission I have was in ZIP format, the rest were mostly RAR and a 7Zip I think. It's because NewDark supported those. Somehow I had those formats primarily. Anyway, is there any way to have AngelLoader open RARs too? If not, I will re-zip all of them. Just wanted to ask first before doing all that.

It does support 7zips. Not rars though. I don't believe FMSel supports rar files either, not in my quick testing just now anyway. It detects them, but can't extract them.

Where did you get rar FMs? I didn't know there was any source providing them in that format.

EDIT: Oh, I see... FMSel only supports rar4, not 5. Argh. Okay, I'll see about adding support, but no promises on how long it'll take.

Thanks. I generally use NewDark, and my Thief stuff is probably 5-10 years outdated, but hey if it works, it works. I've seen a few RARs here and there for fan missions though, which NewDark does support. I think I ended up with so many because at some point I unzipped all of the ones I wanted to play, not realizing most of the FM loaders just want a packaged file. So then I re-RARed them because I use RAR by default to compress stuff. I've personally just always used RAR growing up to compress stuff (probably partially influenced by the 'scene', and it's use of RAR files, hehe). For now I'm just going to re-ZIP these. I'm only talking about like 15-20 fan missions which I have in my queue to play at some point. And I'm trying AngelLoader out because it's a new alternative and everyone's saying it's better and the way to go now. I am finally upgrading, much like I do with Windows versions, about once a decade lol.

RAR support is added, matching FMSel and NewDarkLoader. RARs don't really offer any particular advantage over zip or 7z, and AL processes them at a mediocre speed, but it's there if you need it.

Dang Dark Mod support was a nice surprise. I don't know what I'd do without AngelLoader thanks for all your hard work on it. Now if the TDM devs could add install/uninstall support for their missions...
