AngelLoader v1.11.0 - now works better on Wine! (updated 2025/07/24) - by FenPhoenix

the next version of TFix will be reworked quite significantly, adding the modmanager will probably allow me to set the resources up in a way that would allow a full mods disable via the manager (I'll probably have to ask TTLG administration to update EP2 and NecroAge, as we will have to get a few broken models out of the way to make everything work smoothly. feel free to voice your support when I do that). the gamesys dml will have a fingerprint that will allow the fm to ignore it completely, as long as an identifier archetype is present in the fm gamesys.
that good enough? also, as far as the Sound of Burrick fm is concerned, the vanilla models included there do not fix anything as explained, the author either had no idea what this will do which is bad, or he knew exactly which is even worse (as this is making dead sure the models will break unless the user has a TFix lite install, and no additional mods such as EP2 are active).
anyway, lets not spam Fen's topic, if you wish to continue with the TFix stuff, feel free to post in the TFix topic. or maybe even a moderator can snip this into a separate topic starting with my request post, because despite your (as in, the fm purist group) general unwillingness to cooperate in any kind of usable manner, we may be able to get something out of this that actually could benefit everyone.

Easier to ask me to update EP2 than to bother the admins.

"the people in charge of the respective pack" is what I should have used. yeah, EP2 is probably not going to be a problem, but NecroAge might be, the author is mia for years, so the pack will have to be modified without his consent and rehosted, and some people might be against that.
no worries, I'll go bother the right people once I have everything figured out.

(
https://github.com/FenPhoenix/AngelLoader/releases/download/v1.5.4/AngelLoader_v1.5.4.zip)
AngelLoader v1.5.4 is out.
Features and improvements:* The old "Disabled mods" section has been overhauled into a new Mods tab. Mods are listed as checkboxes that can be switched on and off, rather than having to manually type out an esoteric "disabled mods" string. The "Disable all mods" checkbox has been removed, because it would also disable important mods that are vital to the correct functioning of many FMs (third-party scripts etc.)
* FMs can now be pinned to the top of the list, so you can keep favorites at your fingertips.
* Improved date detection accuracy in the scanner.
Fixes:* Fixed: Email links in readmes would give an error when clicking them.

Hey FenPhoenix finally got around to trying the loader and I like a lot. Question, to use the update do I have to uninstall previous version or just use the exe. file?
Thanks for this!

thanks for the PinOnTop function Fen, very useful to me, and hopefully others.
AL keeps getting better and better

Thanks for all the tafferific work you do on AL, Fen!
The pin on top feature is also good for FMs to be played next.
Regarding the new Mods tab, are the "important mods that are vital to the correct functioning of many FMs" still among those listed? I'm thinking they are if there's no disable all button, and if so how can we tell which they are to not disable them? And when authors advise us to disable mods how to know which ones to uncheck without hurting something in the FM? Some are obvious by their names but others not so much, and others may not be what the author intended but don't really clash if the player likes using them.

Check the "Show important mods" checkbox to show mods that are important and that you should probably leave alone. If that checkbox is unchecked then they are not shown.

Thanks, I didn't notice the extra red lines at the bottom with the compact AL set up I had, so couldn't tell that checking it did anything, now I get it.
