I don't know if Eidos will give enough freedom and resources to this new studio, but if they do, then I'm also in the group who believe new people is not a bad thing. A game like Deus Ex can be a commercial flop easily and I don't think someone with a reputation will be willing to take the risk of betting that reputation as easily as someone who has nothing to lose.
On another topic, I'm sorry if I repeat my question, but I'd really like to know what people think of Eidos management, particularly since they were bought by SCi. Does anyone know what is the corporate philosophy of Eidos ? Also are they financially healthy ?

Maybe they'll get it right this time. Third time lucky?

I don't see why not - I'm sure that as long as they've played both games they'll reach a compromise. Both games had flaws, really, and if they manage to reach a mid-point between them it should be an awesome game.
Failing that, releasing an SDK would allow the community to try and fix any gameplay problems.

I've been disappointed in the gaming industry too many times to have any faith in this. Interesting to see the optimism some of you share ... could be something worthy this time, yes, but I'm rather not holding my breath.

Basically they're giving this huge franchise to some team who haven't been involved with Thief, System Shock or Deus Ex. LAME."
So you want the team that killed DX, insulted its fans and run their own studio into the ground? That's real smart.

Wow. Just wow. I want System Shock 3 done by Eidos and Homeworld 3 by Sierra, next.
Current video game fad: Raping corpses. Just fantastic. I am... almost disgusted, really.

Because no-one in video gaming has ever rehashed an old idea for money, or made a late sequel to an existing game.

At this point, I'm on the fence.
I would love to have some of the old developers, but as long as Specter doesn't touch the product, it should be fine.
Most likely, the developers will be trying to make a game that is more like the first one, instead of the second one. (Unlike Specter, who decided that the old interface sucked, despite its massive praise.)

I don't think it was entirely Warrens fault. Harvey seemed to be the one pushing for a lot of the consolization of IW...and TDS.

That's one of the most retarded things I've ever read.
And I don't see why people hate on Deus Ex: IW as much as they do. We all know that it's not as good as Deus Ex, it'ld be harder then hell to do that. But it's better then most games out there, definately. It's still a great game. I think people would bitch about almost anything released as a deus ex sequel.
