On the topic of hopes, has anyone so far actually found any type of 'official' announcement on the part of Eidos, other than blog-posts and interviews with possibly overzealous developers (not referring to the Warren Spector bit posted above, heh). Anything to indicate that Deus Ex 3 is more than just a lot of hot air at the moment? Anything to confirm that Eidos wasn't just "testing the waters" but is actually moving forward with it?
Sorry if this has been asked & answered before, it's just been a while since that one interview which started this all :wot:

As far as i know it is confirmed that DX3 is in production. I don't know where i read that, i'm gonna search right away.
/edit:
German Wikipedia has to say the following
Quote:
Dezember 2008.
Which means that Patrick Melchior, Director of Eidos in France recently told the guys from IGN in an interview, that DX3 is in the works.

I'm suprised there isn't more activity in this forum, given all of this recent news. I suppose it'll all kick off once the first screens get leaked.

Well, it's not really news, that thing about Melchior is back from May. And we haven't heard anything since.

Also, maybe people are simply more careful about hyping a game after DX:IW :P

IW was made by the same team that made DX (more or less), so expectations were high. If the rumors are true, DX3 is being made by a new studio in Montreal. If we're lucky and the new studio is good, maybe it will be worth playing. But it's way too early to start getting excited now.

Gawd I miss DX.... I'd spend over $100 for anything sequel or prequel or whatever of deus ex. :erg:

I don't want to sound like a fanboy (but I do), but why can't they leave this alone already? I mean.. why? Is it really that big effort to make something new for god sakes?

Why call a game something new when you can call it a sequel, and sell more copies?

Basically they're giving this huge franchise to some team who haven't been involved with Thief, System Shock or Deus Ex. LAME.
Eidos suck donkey balls."
I'm sorry, but brand names don't amount to a hill of jack shit in this day and age.
