I guess it's like the excitement of meeting a girl (or a guy) for the first time, after chatting with her for several months. We're excited about it, we hope she's as gorgeous as we imagined her, although, deep down, we know she's probably "average" at best and we know we'll be disappointed. But we're still excited !
Priceless :p I think if I were a girl, I'd be really insulted by this :p

Why ? :weird:
(And, BTW, I did say "or a guy"...)

Just on a side note. I remember reading an interview with one of the devs of IW (I think it might have actually been WS) shortly before it came out in which he said that they had already come up with some story ideas for a sequel to the game. I'm kind of interested to see what they came up with as the end of IW is pretty conclusive it seems to me.

Did he specify that it was set after IW? If so, that does seem like a tough job to write a decent story about. Maybe it could be about rebellion against the collective mind imposed by JC?

I was thinking that the ending with the best sequel potential is the Illuminati one. The world progresses smoothly for a while, then the Illuminati become corrupt again, and everyone is living in a police state world, where everything is monitored by the Ophelia system.

And then you practically end up with the exact storyline of DX1. Just replace Daedaelus/Icarus with Ophelia. Rather not.
I'd say the Omar ending has one of the biggest possibilities (which says a lot about the rest...). The world is without leaders and is plunging into chaos and warfare; it'd make a great setting for a classic cyberpunk game. Also, finally you might get to not save the entire world, just make your own fortune - just to break the cliche feeling. Hell, organizing my own Illuminati or Templar organization would be fun too.

Hm, I don't know. The idea of a completely barren, nuked to the ground earth, populated only by "transhuman" cyborg people seems a little beyond cyberpunk to me.
What might be interesting if they do something akin to "Opposing Force" for Half-Life with you playing an MIB (or WIB) fighting for MJ12.
Come to think of it, didn't someone make a mod of DX with that premise?

Personally, I expect a sequel (or prequel) to have strong similarities with the previous title. I certainly don't want Deus Ex 3 to really be Fallout 3. I have nothing against Fallout, but... isn't Bethesda already working on this series ?
Anyway, saying Nameless Voice's idea would be the same story as Deus Ex is not necessarily true. For example, the AI could play a major role and the story really could go anywhere. The controlling AI could be benevolent or malevolent, we could start for a group working for or against the AI, the AI could really be fake and under the control of a particular group instead of the real bad guy...
From a gameplay point of view, fighting an omniscient AI could certainly be interesting : avoiding ubiquitous cameras, balance between electronic communications (with, for example, reliable source of information but automatic detection from the AI and bots arriving within 3 minutes) and direct human communications (unreliable but safe, or some other kind of good/bad), virtual reality missions...
Basically, with a little imagination, I believe the possibilities are endless.

Well, the world slowly turned into that... you could just see it happening. Or you could make it happen. :cheeky:

Making a carbon copy would feel like a rip though. And it didn't have to be Fallout; the fact the omar are working to blow up the world doesn't mean you can't prevent it - hence why I said you might have the possibility of creating your own shady, reign-the-world organization...

Daedaelus, Icarus and later Helios played very important role in DX, and you could rarely decide when they work against or with you. Only forming groups would be new and welcomed, but both IW and DX had this terrible lack of meaningful options; not sure if DX3 would break this habit.

You had to avoid/hack/blow up cameras fairly often in DX. Not sure what you mean on avoiding electronic detection; when you fubarred a hack, you got a nice alert on your back IIRC, so it was already there. (And how would an AI detect you if you don't mess the hacking?)
Virtual reality missions sounds good in theory, but I'd rather not make this into a System Shock 1-II. ;)

Yeah, but if you practically only want to remake DX1 - or want to stick to something absolutely similiar - , you're really limiting yourself...

Wait wait, I've got it.
What if all the endings to DX:IW happened?
