Well, the rumor is spreading in canadian gaming blogs, with the creation of a new Eidos Montreal studio and their first big title. The rumor was started on the (
http://lenirvanadujoueur.blogspot.com/2007/05/eidos-montreal.html) blog of a guy currently working in a different Montreal studio (at Ubi), which does make him a bit more credible than your random Joe, but not much.
I'm just spreading the rumor here, and I hope we'll get more info soon.

Interesting. Considering the success of DX2 I'd say it's as likely as a System Shock 3, but it would be nice.

In several gaming forums, I saw messages from people saying Deus Ex was one of the best game they played. This gives value to the name "Deus Ex" and it is certainly a good reason to strap this old name to a new game.
Of course, a new "Deus Ex" will probably be even more dumbed down than Invisible War, but I wouldn't be surprised if, somewhere, a marketing "genius" is thinking about it.
BTW, I read not long ago that a there will be a new Amiga...

Because nothing screams classic gaming like a GF8800.
I hadn't realised that "people dewy-eyed about the golden age of 16-bit computing" overlapped enough with "people who want their frag count taken to a whole new level" for this to be an advisable choice of branding.
Or indeed that anybody still used the word "frag".

(

Oooh, wait, you were trying to be funny by saying that despite the fact that the story continues and the core game elements are there, because it wasn't exactly the same it wasn't a real sequel.
Cunning.
Hmm, that's like saying "the core elements of Star Wars were also present in episodes 1-3."
All that says is that you have a very narrow view of what the core elements actually were. If you think that the core elements are "Jedi, Storm Troopers" then yes.
If you look any deeper, however, you'll see how many ways they are not the same, and don't share the same core values.

Do you even know what cunning means :S Or is it like a favourite "word of the week" or something? :weird:

Can you all share opinions without resorting to flaming? This is getting really tiresome.

Yes this is no rumours... it was indeed confirmed on the tv Show M.Net on Musique Plus last thursday by Eidos France manager.
Confirmed by Patrick Melchior, general manager of Eidos France
Turns out to be more solid than System Shock 3 already.
EDIT : I found the (
http://mnet.musiqueplus.com/video.php) interview he's talking about quite easily. Scroll down and pick the "Tomb Raider : Anniversary" one. And try to remember your lessons of French.
What Eidos France boss' says : Just like Ubi and EA did before, Eidos is going to open a new studio in Montreal in September. They are currently looking for premises, and 30 to 40 people should be working in it by the end of the year. Its first goal will be to revive the Deus Ex franchise, yet it has to be fully confirmed by the time the studio starts working.
