I guess that would depend on what kind of shoes stepped in it. :sly: I think using a decal in that type of situation is probably the best idea as oppose to using a brush with a modified version of the floor texture being used.

https://s26.postimg.cc/voafsyevd/light_gem.jpgThis is a light gem pack I have been working on. I'm not sure if I'm happy with it, so I thought I would ask the good people of TTLG for an opinion. Originally, I had been working on a personalised gem with my user name on it!
I've tried to stay close to the original with this. The texture sizes are possibly a little too big (that can be changed) considering the gem itself is quite small. These are drop in replacements.
Anyhoo..can you give this a go and tell me what you think, please? As I've said, it's very much a work in progress.
On another topic..today I successfully edited this thread's title! Huzzah!

Awesome! I'll definitely try those light gems out. Thanks Purgator!

Cheers John! This is only a demo, I will have to tweak it here and there.
Edit: I've had to update the zip file, as I forgot a texture. Also, all files are in one folder now.

I'm trying to learn about making your own light gem, and your package helped me get a idea, so thank you. But I notice crytex 17 is the darkest, you can almost not see the gem, but I can never get that dark even if I put my amb light to 0. Does it not ever go to 17? Where did that number come from?
Yandros on 19/6/2017 at 02:22
Give yourself or something near you a light with negative brightness and see if it goes down to crytex17.

That would be interesting but it didn't work. I went 0 on amb, then closed off myself into a cube with a torch with neg 200. Light gem looked the same as I was just in the dark. About level 11. Eitherway, it paves the way to learn more. Thank you Purgator!

Try invisibilty?
It sets the light to 0.

Thanks gamophyte!
(
http://downloads.ttlg.com/download.aspx?id=1471) Cosas have a very cool light gem pack.
I'm just trying to figure out the textures myself. I copied whatever LGS had in their folder, to be honest, and made my own set based on that number. If you want to find a source picture for a gem, type 'Baguette gem stone' into your favourite search engine.

Yeah I figured that's what you did, but now it makes me curious, like maybe they had more levels and AI response originally planned.

Awesome advice, I wouldn't ever have known what that was called. My first attempt though I was going to actually shine a light through a crystal I have here at home, just to see how good it might come out. If it's awesome, I have some other steampunk-ish ideas for insetting it. Will post at WIP thread, hope I'm not spamming, just fun to share.
