The zombies in Stalker aren't dead, merely brain dead
Because brain death isn't death. :cheeky:
They didn't describe the process of zombification good enough in the game, but it's basically a strong "mind control" which affects anyone close enough to the transmitter. What is not logical that some mind-controlled zombies do appear far from these areas among normal people or even in the radius of psy-transmitter after it has been shut down.
If somebody still behaves like a zombie after the transmitter has been shut down, it means he suffered irreversible brain damage and basically is a real permanent zombie.
That makes a good sense, no? I guess not. :laff:

They're not zombies (real zombies, at least), they're just retarded ;)
As for the 28 Days Later zombies (and also the Dawn of the Dead ones), there seems to be a new and bad tendency to make zombies move really fast. Classic zombies shouldn't move like that (I think I already had this discussion with GBM).

You must admit, it takes some of the scare out of zombies when you realise that they can only fight with hands and teeth and only stumble slowly across the floor. Without the lovely tight corridors of the Resident Evil mansion, there's just no scare. (Alright, hordes of the undead, slowly moving but unstoppable and all that rubbish but something that you actually have to run away from is somewhat more scary than the classic zombie, hence all the other beasties in RE.

The traditional zombie's fright factor doesn't come from their speed or armament, it's their tenacity and numbers that do it. Sure, if you've got plenty of ammo and room to run, zombies are no threat. It's when you're down to only a pointy stick and are cornered that things get scary. Oh, and did I mention their numbers? You need a horde of them, it's mandatory. Also, a proper zombie is supposed to be next to impossible to kill, not just a simple headshot dealie. It's like, how can you kill something that isn't alive? Real zombies won't be stopped by anything except a chainsaw or grenade. And that won't kill them, that just dismembers them enough so that they are no longer mobile. They'll still try to eat your ankles if you get close enough though.
You know what? Video game zombies suck, I want classic zombies! Arrrg!

For what it's worth, the folks in 28 Days Later weren't zombies, as they weren't dead, I don't believe. Just infected with a virus that makes em go all loco.

For what it's worth the zombies in resident evil weren't zombies, just infected with a virus that makes them look/walk/act like zombies, causing everyone to refer to them as zombies.

I think that the ones from Dawn of the Dead (the remake) were real zombies though. And those could move damn fast.
