Cuz he didn't belittle the murder of 6 million people! He made an analogy about vandalizing an article on the holocaust, not the holocaust itself. There's a difference. A big one. One you're failing to see.
I think this has to be about the stupidest damn argument I've ever had here on TTLG.
edit: okay, I see what you're saying. I guess I missed it all in the fervor and the rage.
You're saying that tagging a stupid game shouldn't be directly comparable to vandalizing an article about the holocaust on Wikipedia. You're still making too big of a hooplah over it, though. Because even though he went with too extreme an example (FOOORRR SSSHHHAAAMMMEEE), he still has a point. You're attacking his poor use of subject matter, not the argument itself.

Oh man, why'd you have to post that here? The white knights will fall over themselves to flag all the tags that don't conform to their point of view!
So enjoy tags like "Casual", "Edgy", "Lacking good voice acting" and "Franchise Killer" while they last... it might be the last time you get a proper, unneutered glimpse of what the popular opinion on the state of this game currently is.
Eh? Do you honestly think that these tags really describe the game in a fair way? I don't know how the tagging system works, and I can't be bothered to find out either, but if anyone can add these tags, including people who haven't even played the game, then it seems like a rather pointless mechanism to me that is open for all sorts of stupid abuse. I doubt that it's got much to do with the popular opinion either, it's more likely just a few angry internet people venting their anger.
Oh, and stop with this white knight crap, it's embarrassing and stupid. You're doing exactly the same as what you accuse these "white knights" of... with the exception that you only concentrate on the negatives and complaining! Does that make you the Dark Knight or something? :erg:

@Renzatic
I'll say it again: All it takes is the tiniest bit of reading comprehension to see the goddamn difference.
Read the goddamn sentence!
Quote:
I mean, to compare tagging a stupid game to belittling the murder of 6 million people
as in JASON COMPARED tagging sth to belittling sth, as opposed to Jason belittled sth.

Read my edit above. And yeah, you can accuse me of poor reading comprehension on this one.

No, because I, unlike some other posters here, do not think that just because an opinion is popular it is automatically the truth.

I take it you missed out on all the Steam tag controversy? So, yes, those were some rather common criticisms levelled at this new system.

I did attack the argument itself as well, the argument being that one single person might've put the negative tags there.
Sure, the system can be "abused" but it takes a hell of a lot more than one person.
Tomi on 18/2/2014 at 19:18
Jason's example wasn't about belittling and the Holocaust isn't the point. I think that the key word here is vandalism.

I'd like to know who those "some other posters" are.
Everyone knows that popular opinion on the internet means
nothing. :erg:

Yup. Just because an opinion is popular doesn't mean it's right or true. That's a bit of a truism in and of itself.
But on the other hand, everyone hates a contrarian. Especially people who are contrarians for the sake of being contrarians. Or even worse, people who automatically believe something's wrong
because it's popular.

No Renz, you haven't had a reading comprehension issue.
Jason explained perfectly well that he was just talking about the vandalising. Brother I's argument is a strawman.

I'm sorry if that's how I come across. Maybe if there had been less of an effort to get rid of the critical posters (NuEffect basically said that those are not wanted here), I might still have somebody I could agree with from time to time.:erg:

I didn't misrepresent anybody's argument at any time. Not even Jason's.
