While I was searching for more information about an old Half-Life mod that had long been abandoned and forgotten during the time of my youth, I found something interesting. I was checking the domain of the mod Half-Life Resurrection (not to be confused with the new model mod) on Wayback Machine, and lo and behold on the old site of Half-Life.net I found this.

The System Shock 3 Half-Life modification website has been updated with a stack of model images for your viewing pleasure. Here's a brief description of the mod itself:
SS-HL is a TC made for Half-Life which takes place in the System Shock universe. This will basically be "System Shock 3" and is a continuation of 2.
The mod features all-new creatures, items and objects, and weapons. As well as all the usual mod additions (new levels, etc). Check out their website for more information.

I tried checking the link, but all I got was a blank page with pictures that refused to appear. (I really hate how the Wayback can't quite replicate certain bits of Internet past right). I checked the address for the mod, and this is what it came up as.

So this was a TTLG project once upon a time in elder days? What I want to know is, what happened? The answer is probably obvious: a cease and desist letter from the rights holders. A shame, since I recall another modification, a System Shock mod for Doom, was also recalled that way (i'm having greater difficulty finding the archive for that site).

E makes loose control.
Only tryed halflife for short.
This game is to evil!

I don't think there was a cease and desist - just a project that was overly ambitious and didn't do much more than show a few models before dying due to lack of time / interest.

you didn't had time - yes. I will code it with ttlg.com.

To my knowledge the only project that ever got a C&D was that Sapphire Scar thing. And what a boohoo that was although it looked no more likely to be finished than all the other projects that died along the way.

That was
almost a haiku.

Oh, it's so old... At fist it was SSHL, then the team has changed and it went to SSDX (yeah, System Shock on Deus Ex), there were two different plots, then it was renamed to OHND, and then - gone. There were nice people from the forum involved into the project, by the way.
Here's what I've found in my archives about the post-SSHL project: (

And the only screenshot that I have:

Oh, and here's the SSDX screenshot:

http://www.valet2.com/ohnd/info/OHND-SHODAN.jpgThere were TONS beginnings of making a re-make or continuation of systemshock games. Nothing were even 10% completed (only Christine did awesome mods, but her goal wasn't to make "System Shock 3"). This (SSHL, and later SSDX) was one of the first attempts. But I remember we all wanted SS3 so much even then, 13 years ago!

There was far more than Christine's FM's. Though hers are most definitely the best of the lot.
I quite liked doc4's FM.

TSP came closer than any other project I know of, except actual completed ones of course. I reckon we had about 50-60% done or more, a few of the levels were virtually done short of enemies, music was done and writing was pretty much done... Of course we still went belly up, so it's not like it's any consolation :(

On the positive side we got the talon droids out of it, if I remember right.
