Next, they'll continue the franchise. After "Thief", they might come out with a "Thief 2", as part of their mission to destroy and replace the original franchise.

With such a large amount of negativity surrounding the game(only rivaled by DmC: Devil May Cry in the massive justified fan negativity department) and an embrassing amount of money thrown down the drain for EM to work on this project, I sincerely doubt they'll ever be able to gain back enough money to cover the costs of development. While I'm sure many people will go out and buy this trainwreak(either due to the brainwashing advertisement campaigns or simply out of blind fanboy fantasies), I honestly believe it still won't be enough to cover the cost(recent example: the Tomb Raider reboot). Who knows? If this atrocious reboot doesn't sell well, Square-Enix will probably think that no one likes stealth games anymore and will throw the Thief IP back on 'the shelf' again to gather dust, before moving on to bastardizing another legendary IP that they just so happen to have(whether that be from their Squaresoft days or from the franchises they got upon purchasing Eidos.)
To conclude my opinion of the topic in this thread in a nutshell- (

And so on.
So, what, you like the trailer? Enjoy the writing style, the art direction, the use of the word taffer, and everything in-between?
I'd be interested to know what you think of it instead of hearing you criticize my criticism.

This kind of reminds me of how shit movies and sometimes games try to fake being all poetic and shit.

We'll all be better off when we realize this game isn't 'for' us. Chances are it never was. I was onboard with a 'wait and see' attitude until the recent furry porn paintings revelation that really turned me off and now it just seems like every bit I see about it gets worse. They should have just created the new Basso as a different character (they have) and used a new name instead of slapping his name on hoping it'd help keep the Thief connection or whatever the purpose was. It's never made sense to 're-imagine' characters when they're completely different. You're not changing a previous character, you're creating a new one.
I didn't mind the animation style but like most games the writing is pretty poor. It really feels like they're having someone run google translated french to english through a noir filter or something and then cleaning it up later to make it at least somewhat make sense. That's the best way I can describe it. It's bizarre.

So it turns out THIS was James Gandolfini's last performance. Holy shitballs, how is Basso from New Jersey? Why is he peeing on a wall? Who the hell is writing this sludge? Why do I even care anymore?
And look, Basso, you braindead f***wit - YOU CALL HIM GARRETT BECAUSE THAT'S HIS NAME. It's not some clever nickname you came up with. And NO ONE calls him "taffer."
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

... Brother Brethren ....
Please stop saying this. Seriously, pretty please. It's driving me out of my fornicating mind every time I see this, because you're actually saying, 'Brother Brother'. WHY ARE YOU SAYING, 'BROTHER BROTHER'!? WHY, SWEET JESUS ON A STICK, WHY?!! AND FOR THE RECORD, YOU DON'T NEED TO SAY 'BROTHER' IN FRONT OF ANYTHING! THIS IS NOT A RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL!!!
Thanks. :)

Personally, I'm a pretty paranoid person. I think that EM knows this game is going to be a flop and they are just taking parting shots at us with this stuff. Taking a big dump on our favorite franchise because we've given them a hard time since day one.
Yes, obviously the entire point of releasing this big budget product is just to insult the people of this relatively small community. This makes perfect sense.

The voice acting sounds like it is going to be mediocre across the board. I've not been impressed with any of the voice work. The bigger (long running) concern I have is that it just doesn't feel even remotely like Thief. :(
